Steelers Speak Out About Death of George Floyd

Again I don't speak for others. And I agree you have been rational and honest. I think there are mostly good people in those crowds just as most police officers are good hardworking and honest people. But when words like animals get used there is some connection to the well meaning protestors not just the looters and the rioters. So at least in some situations this plays out. Policeman kills a man over nothing and his colleagues stand and watch. People say " but it's a tough job" and "we don't know all the facts". People plan a peaceful demonstration and a group hijacks it and makes it a riot. Look at those animals without distinction. And I want to be clear Steelworth I'm not painting your words with that brush because you haven't said that.

I hear you my Canadian friend, and appreciate your posts. I don't want to hear or see something like that as well.

Black vs. white, rich vs. poor, red vs. blue, urban vs. rural.....the divisions in our society have become so pronounced and entrenched I'm losing faith that we can solve any of this. Our only hope is that enough "average" Americans open their minds and hearts to each other, tune out all the opinionated blowhard talking heads just interested in stuffing their own bank accounts and start working together for the common good. There will always be criminals and fringe elements trying to disrupt society. They are just looking for an opportunity to create the chaos that serves their purposes. That Minneapolis cop played right into their hands when he so calmly and callously killed George Floyd over passing a possibly counterfeit $20 bill. We can't be doing that anymore. These self inflicted wounds are dragging the entire country down.

I do know one thing though. We need change at the top. Having a "leader" that fans the flames of hatred and bigotry is not helpful. Another four years of this and Lord Help US.

I see you liked 'Sasks' post, but didn't like mine -- why not? I thought I laid it all out as honestly an accurately as could be. So again, why the 'inconsistency'?

I didn't like your post because I didn't agree with all of it. I felt the 'one side' arguments were overgeneralized and don't relate with the plight my black friends, neighbors, family, and players that I interview. I like your 'other side' arguments and appreciate that you're discussing from a place of peace and love, because that helps to breed understanding.

While you're talking about decades of non-violent protests, I've seen **** from black people in the last few days I don't ever want to see again. You've seen decades of non-violent protests? I've seen something different. Don't claim you're black-activist or whatever -- as you've already claimed you're a scientist.

I don't see how this post is helpful? The ENTIRE black community does not feel safe. That includes players that play for the Steelers, and people that work for this website. A man is many things, I am no activist, but I genuinely care about every black person that helps to enrich my life, and want to do whatever I can to help them feel safer. The only way I know how to help right now, is to listen and keep talking about the issue that they don't feel safe, and work together to find ways for us all to improve this great nation. Open dialogue is the most important thing we can do as individuals to help us all, start to heal.

You mean like the excuses some black leaders are making..."its their pent up anger being released due to years of systemic racism". That's garbage.

"Listen to the actual problem" ? They don't want to hear about the actual problem because they aint gonna like what they hear.

Yeah these looting thugs so much care about George Floyd as they make out with TV sets and other loot while taking selfies. ******* animals.

What can we say or do at this time to placate? This mythical "conversation" is sure to be one-sided and autocratic in that we must accept their narrative and make reparations or either agree that "white man's law" should not be applied equally and we'll then have "No Go Zones" like France with its angry, riotous Muslim population and enclaves.

Why do you think the Democrat governors released all the prisoners due to Covid-1984 and prior to Operation Burn it Down? They want the chaos that ultimately serves the Left's end.

I encourage anyone to study "Cloward-Piven strategy" for insight into the Alinskyite tactics on display here. They want to overwhelm the system and institute guaranteed, universal income. Covid-1984 and this Tet Offensive across the country only serve that end.

Like the US Embassy in Saigon, that's why they've focused on breaching the WH grounds to deliver the psychic blow to the US public that it's not worth defending law and order anymore -- that the battle is too hard to expect decency and order. Covid-1984 and Tet '20 have been well-coordinated psychological operations against the American people by the New World Order.

All those wanting to go all "We are the World," "I'd like to teach the world to sing," and Kumbaya/Coexist here are, IMO, ignorant of the nature of those trying to tear down our civilization and impose their Socialist model. In short, don't be a useful idiot just because the burner has been turned up on the stove -- or you suddenly feel sympathy for the wolves in sheep's clothing.

I think you make some very good points Steelworth and it's well articulated. A couple things I might add as an outsider. Racidm plays out in every culture. Not just America. But, part of what gets played out is racism is really classism. Rich wanting to hold on to money. Middle class scapegoating for their own financial struggles. I can see two major issues though:
1.Middle class white people value police, but they don't want to pay them enough to hold them to a greater accountability. Police officers top out over 100k in Canada and attract some of the best and brightest.
2. US school systems keep creating a divide between the haves and have nots. To the point where pull yourself up by your bootstraps is a ****** laughable proposition.
Whatever society you live in. The poorest have the most encounters with the police and therefore the most negative ones. Its math.

Few points:

1. Middle class white people don't pay police. I understand your point but a huge part of black areas don't have middle class white people voting for representatives or even local jurisdictions. Let's take NY for example. It's mostly minorities that make up NY. So how does white middle class people not want to pay for police there? What about Chicago? LA? Miami? You think white middle class people are doing the hiring of cops there? I'm sorry but that's just not right.

2. I work for the U.S. school system. The biggest issue we have is trying to get parents involved... or even on the phone. My school is 65% black. I see these students every day. When they get in trouble I'm the one that has to call mom (Almost none of them have dads at home). If I can't find her I have to find their grand-mother, aunt, or cousin. Were are a title I school so that means we get a ton of federal funding. Money isn't the issue. Family is the issue. Most majority white schools get less money. My son goes to a higher rated public school that is entirely white. But they don't have the funding that my school has. My class room has computers, big screen TV, and I can get just about anything I want. But his school is an A rated school mine is a C rated school. It's the students that are different. All the teachers at my school are either have M.A. degrees or EdD. These are not bad teachers. Most are National Board Certified.

3. There are more white poor than black poor. But that has nothing to do with encountering police. If that were true then whites would be encountering police twice as often. But they don't because blacks commit the vast majority of crimes. 50% of all murders are committed by 6% of the population (black men). Yes, it is math but you need to know the math to use it.

Finally. IMHO the solution to all of this is family. One man and one woman. The more the family is broken the more crime and the more issues the country is going to have. This takes personal responsibility and judgement.
