The Steelers signed the big TE out of Virginia tech and waived Ryan Malleck and Darnell Leslie. Hodges was a very good player at Tech with big play ability for a TE.

Big? Dude is 236 pounds, let's not start pulling our puds just yet.

he is not 236, he is over 260 now.

if he was so good, he would still be with minnesota, they'd find a way to work him in to their offense. the league is full of tight ends that are average/subpar blockers, or "thicker" wide receivers. i'd love to see him blossom into something awesome, but i'm not holding my breath. not everybody is the next jimmy graham, squeaky

He has a ton of natural talent but was used as a Jimmy Graham type TE at Tech. Has to learn to play the TE position in the NFL, junior.

Johnny Unitas, James Harrison, etc all say hello, they were also b=cut by other teams before becoming stars.

Hodges was basically a big WR in college. He kind of didn't have a position coming to the NFL which is why he was a late pick.

He was tall and thin in college. I don't know how he moves now if he's bulked up to 260. He's definitely worth a look though

Yeah but Omar loves a short TE in Grimble that doesn't get open, can't create mismatches and drops a ton of passes.'

Hodges weighed 257 at the combine and ran a 4.57 i say that is moving real good.

good pickup should now really push Grimble 6"7 260 in a 5 wide with Hunter JUJU Brown Vance mismatch nightmare

Amazing...The league is full of superior talent this time of year. Year after year we see only a few able to hang on to a spot. This is an interesting time for all us football fans to watch this talent try to get a foot in the door........ cool stuff.

Camp body. Was cut by the Jets. Can’t block and is weak in traffic. Has a high level fear factor of being hit. Won’t even make the PS. Not even worth a thread.

Everybody thought Mike Hilton was a camp body too.

Grimble was cut by 2 teams in 2014, was not on a roster in 2015 and had a whopping 5 catches for 32 yards last year. Good thing he is a poor blocker and has stone hands, how would Hodges ever unseat such a stud?

Marcus Allen has a couple of pass breakups in the red zone period. Then gives up a TD to Bucky Hodges from Rudolph. #Steelers #dkps

Too bad he has no heart.

I don't think he's a great blocker either, but he is far from being stone handed. Our starter McDonald has the hardest hands on the team, and highest drop rate. Xavier diving and pulling in tough catches is not that.
