Steelers select LB Tyler Matakevich from Temple

It looks pretty bad *** when a tough imposing LB wears a single digit number and is out there blowing people up. Mayock called him The Bully of Broad Street.... I like it.
 
This dude is a steal in the 7th, thought for sure he was going 4th Rd area, so glad they grabbed him
 
This guy is drafted in rounds 2-4 10 years ago. Classic middle linebacker in a Larry Foote or Vince Williams mold. Great character too.
 
The two late linebackers have different physical areas they excelled at... but both made the top 15 in several areas among all Lb prospects... both were good boom/bust types

That's a thing at Temple. They give the single digit numbers to the toughest guys on the team. You have to earn a single digit
 
Love the pick. Will be very surprised if he doesn't make the team.
 
I agree with the Larry Foote comparisons. Would be a nice piece if he's that good.
 
I think he's a little better in coverage then given credit for, because he's such a film junkie he can usually be in the right position

It was like that at my high school but instead of Linebackers the best WR's / DB's (usually the same kids) on the team mostly took single digit numbers.
 
Heck yeah! A ginger linebacker! Maybe he'll be the next Karl Mecklenberg!

I like the pick, especially in the 7th round.. I think he has a decent shot at sneaking on to the roster. However, with Scooby Wright on the board, I would have preferred him
 
Now this is a good 7th round pick. The guy was ultra-productive, and a pure football player, which matter a lot at ILB. With Spence gone, and Shazier always dinged up, he should make the team, and be able to add something to speical teams kick coverage as well.
