Good - going for need. Throw him in the pot - see if he adds any flavor

We have now 12 CBs on the team roster. It could be 13, if Lewis is signed. That would equal the amount of LBs. CB royal rumble at camp.

Has anybody ever asked him if he wants to play WR?

Allen, a married father with one child, did not play defensive back prior to coming to Utah.

He came to Utah as a big, athletic wide receiver. At 6’ 3”, 215 pounds with a 4.48 40-yard dash, he has the size and speed NFL teams covet at cornerback.

Because he switched to defensive back in college, he is still a bit raw. He flashed potential throughout his Utah career, and he has the physical gifts that coaches can work with. He is joining a franchise with a long history of playing great defense.

Not gonna ***** too much about anyone chosen 5-7 because it becomes a real crap shoot. I just don't see the fit for him outside of ps developmental player. Seems really raw and I'd just prefer taking someone like a DL to add to the mix where if a prospect surprises all a DE has to do is beat Walton or a NT beat out shade tree to get a guy who can crack the 53. I'd have went with Tu' big NT out of USC there or a S.
Maybe they see him as a deep CF FS after some time on ps (but the kid can't tackle)? With seemingly 7 locks to be ahead of him on the depth chart it just seems like a ps player and I hate drafting ps players as early as the 5th, those players always get snatched up by other teams (I.e. wasted pick).

Better ways to spend late round picks
1) Trade for a round earlier next year and build draft potential down the road
2) Combine with a 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounder to move up for a targeted player in one of those rounds
3) group 5,6, and 7 for a late 3rd/early 4th in a deep draft-moving to the top of the 5th before the run on TEs would've been nice, knew it was coming soon after we grabbed Dobbs in the late 4th.
4) take the flyer on a position with far less bodies on the chart

And here's to hoping one of our picks 5-7 amounts to anything of service to the team! I guess every once in a blue moon you can grab an AB

He needs to crack open in camp. I'd love for him to be a starter some time down the line. Tall, lanky, good knack for the ball. Ike Taylor 2.0?

Stop trying to envision all day three picks as sure fire starters and your lives will be more peaceful.

Go Penguins!

Doesn't have to be a starter, but would be nice to do something of meaning with picks 5-7

nah, we needed a starter spark on defense, got it, needed a WR spark that can start, got it, and a RB that can take some reps, got it....that's all Ben needs

and we got a brand new QB to watch in preseason, that should be fun

I demand entertainment

btw - where you live in Fiji?

Always have high hopes. Never know. Diamond in the rough.

I like this pick just based on size. Watching his highlights on youtube, he has a nose for the ball. It's not like he's a bum. He's played against some fast offenses in the pac 12. I liked this years draft

if he can be a helpful late pick as a Vince Williams that would be enough for me

I bet Coach still doesn't like him...

He's all right.

I was on record that round TWO was the round to pick a corner, but we didn't so we ended up with a guy in round three that can do some things but is limited and a raw type in round 5.

Fess up men, we all wanted to upgrade the cornerback spot.

Yet this is what we got. WTF....

Are you happy now Steeler Nation posters?

I am not. A very uneven type of draft if you ask me.

Coach I would not say our round three corner is limited.

Stop trolling, lulz.

Once again the position we need a star at we fail. Corner backs we don't have, proof, we have 12 in camp. I don't see how we give a standing ovation on this draft.

More limited than you'd like. He's got short arms, isn't fast ( a little on the slow side ) , doesn't tackle well, is slight in build, etc...

But I like him as a slot guy ,and he can play. Not a bad pick at all for round three. I just wanted a bigger CB, who was faster with the ability to play man or zone on the outside.

In a draft not as deep in CB's this kid doesn't last as long as he did. Was there someone else still available you would have taken at that spot instead?

For what was available a solid pick.

I don't think he is slow at all. His school record pass breakups tell me he has more than enough football speed.
