QB rating when targeted in 2020.

Mike Hilton: 17.3
Minkah Fitzpatrick: 19.2
Terrell Edmunds: 54.2
Cam Sutton: 78.1
Steven Nelson: 82.7
Joe Haden: 83.2
Justin Layne: 87.9

Each player defends against usually a different set of skill position players. But this is an interesting list none the less.

Maybe lend a little to the belief that a Hilton resigning should be priority number one.

Buy or sell ?

I will add this here.

If the Steelers lose Cam Sutton this offseason, they're losing a guy who can wear almost defensive hat. Fill any role for a specific gameplan, replace any injury in the secondary. His 2020 snaps.

– Dime Backer (196 snaps)
– LCB (171)
– NCB (139)
– RCB (40)
– SS (29)
– FS (1)

Buy. I just hope he isn't too expensive.

Both will be.
Sutton is too versatile not to get a nice chunk of change.
Drew Rosenhaus is Hilton's agent.
Say goodbye to both

I would think the Steelers would make a strong play to keep at least one of them.

I think they will too. In fact, I think Sutton was the guy they had targeted. But, I think the thing that threw a monkey wrench into their plans was that he saw waaaay more playing time this year than they anticipated. And while he wasn't a star, he was more than serviceable at ALL of those positions. Kid made himself some bank this year. More bank than I think the Steelers can afford.

Now bear in mind that haden and nelson were getting the best wrs most of the time...

Hilton is the perfect 3cb in this day and age.. going to be nigh impossible to sign him

Considering these numbers are not consistent with the source I’ve referred to, STRONG SELL.

A jack of all trades won't make as much as a master of one.

The Steelers need to cut Haden and sign Hilton and Sutton.

True, true .... But, all it takes is one team to see potential in Sutton that we see and be willing to pay him for it. We did that with Nelson.

I just think people don’t realize that there is a very low percentage of probability that hilton would translate this kind of production to a outside starting role...

The guy is marvelous with how they utilize him, but Haden and Nelson are extremely good at what they do... especially the hand eye reaction stuff... im very leary about shorting ourselves at starting cb... those guys are usually rated very high as starters... sure maybe Sutton can replace one... but i pretty sure Hilton isnt built for that role

My thoughts is we need to get younger and save cap space at the same time. I love Joe Haden but he is getting up in age. Sutton may not be exactly Haden but probaly close enough.

I'm glad I donb't have to decide but the coach & craptologist in me say Sutton to full time CB.

Salute the nation

Haden is as good as gone. Can't afford him unless he takes a pay cut. Nelson will probably get a new contract to reduce his cap hit. Hilton is probably gone although probably gets some type of offer lower than he can get elsewhere. Sutton will get an offer as well but even he will probably get a bigger offer elsewhere.

Those numbers all look pretty good to me -- I wonder what the league average is by position.

Those numbers are wrong.
