Pittsburgh sports heroes turned into real life heroes for a group of people stranded in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

Pittsburgh Steelers player James Harrison was on board The Legends of Pittsburgh Cruise and he uploaded the pics to his Instagram Saturday. According to James, the ship stopped in the middle of the Gulf to rescue 16 people on a homemade raft.

It's unclear what happened to the refugees once on board ... but one thing's for sure, there's a good chance they'll become Pittsburgh fans.

The cruise started in Miami headed to Cozumel and Harrison's joined by teammate Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Pirate Manny Sanguillen and Penguin Francois Leroux just to name a few

Wow, to drink a beer with Francois. Great job James, and crew.

Just a debbie downer comment, but how does taking a picture or two make one a hero??? The STEELERS players on the field are heros of a different kind, but this in real life time, does NOT make them a hero mearly by their presence. Now if JAMES would have swam out and saved, Antonio did a fly by pluck rom the ocean, well then that would have been hero material. As is, they were just along for the ride as was everyone else on that boat. The true heros, stopped and picked them up

Salute the nation

Hmmm, I wonder how that would've turned out if it was the Gronk Cruise that found them?
