Antonio Brown to the rescue as some Pittsburgh Steelers fans might see it. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, a video of Brown and agent Drew Rosenhaus surfaced on Twitter which appeared to be the two restructuring Brown’s contract to fully guarantee his 2018 salary to create cap space for the team. Watch part 1 of the […]

If it truly saves $9.7 million in cap space, then I believe it's enough to cover the cap hit for Bell without making other moves. Other moves need to be made if they plan on signing any free agents, even Timmons to the vet minimum.

A team player, I like it. I guess I had the wrong impression of him.

If I'm reading everything correctly we only have a touch over 1 million in space.

Ok maybe the sites weren't updated. Over the Cap showed us 8.6 over before the AB restructuring, and sportrac shows us having a little over a million in space available

Restructuring Cam, and cutting Wilcox/Mitchell gets them to 13.5m in space and should be enough to sign the rookies and make a small signing or two. Plus they have to do something with Boswell(2nd round tender of approx 3m) and a bunch of other restricted guys(Chick, Rogers), which should cut into cap space at roughly 1.4m each

Chick? First Ballot Hall of Famer Anthony Chickillo? Max contract.

right, cooch?

There is no “team player” aspect to this. Players get their future salary in a bonus now. Just increases their cap in the future. It’s how they work around the cap, and why they don’t throw large guarantees.

With the above mentioned cuts, Mitchell especially, and restructuring of Cam’s and maybe Al’s contract, they will have room to dabble in FA.

All this stuff from LeVeon sitting out is pouting. He isn’t passing up 14.5 for a “new standard” for players in the future.

They need 14.5 in cap space by March 14th just to get Bell's tag in under the cap.

Geez! Let’s accommodate this guy any way we can to get him gone. Someone mentioned allow him to negotiate with other teams until he’s satisfied, then if he’s happy with the proposal, he signs the tag and we get the best deal for us.
I’d be ok with a 2nd and 3rd and draft a RB in the 2nd round.
As stated we could use his greed to benefit our needs to sign a few sold defensive players.

We might have Bell covered, but we don't have restricted free agents covered.

Why do people credit AB as team player for this? It's kind of a no brainer if the Steelers say they want to write a check
today for your year's pay rather than waiting paycheck to paycheck for the same amount. If one of these prepaid guys
is injured or in an accident, the Steelers are the ones out of luck.

Restructure of AB makes us about 1m under accounting for the tag given to Bell. They'll still need to open an additional 4.5m or so to tender Chick/Eli Rodgers at the lowest level and Boswell at 2nd round level before the new year kicks in. I guess that would mean cutting Mitchell and Wilcox or restructuring Cam would be the next sequence of moves.

We have enough for Bell now? Everything I'm reading seems to indicate we are not

I think we are slightly under. Mitchell cut and some restructures are needed for free agency and the draft, and 3 million emergency funds.....

As I think they bring in a ILBer and a RB. Maybe even a S... or move Davis to FS and start the Alabama SS .

I keep thinking of different scenarios, draft.

I think it is either S or DT value wise in 1. As I think our ILbers might be gone. And if the FO thinks that too, they will definitely attack the position in free agency.

But don't worry there is a lot of cap options, this team can get the team what it needs at least from a ILBer perspective.

That’s thoughtful of him. Don’t know if it’ll change anything, but he clearly is a Steeler aka team player.

Uh, no. He’s getting more money up front. The Steelers are doing him a favor.

Ok the website I was looking at had our cap space right, but they didn't have Bell listed as one of the contracts, now he is.

Steelers: Hey AB, we want to give you a bonus instead of paychecks all year.

AB: Sure thing, I get my money up front, and all the morons who think they know everything will cheer me for being a team player.

I think I read it somewhere awhile back, but can't find the source, anyways but most, if not all, of the contracts have a built in provision where they can be restructured/converted at any time at the club's request. So the players don't even have to agree to anything.

My sentiments exactly Ike...."Mr. Me" looks after "Mr. Me" first and everything else is what it is.
