I have to believe he is a post June 1st cut. Its purely a money move to make room for rookie signings and have some possible space to pick up any cast offs that look promising after the preseason cuts. Fingers crossed!

The Steelers still save money with designating all the dead money this year. They still don't have to make a single move to sign the rookie class. Now if an injury happens, contracts will have to be reworked.
