Report: Steelers pick up fifth-year option on David DeCastro's contract

The Steelers have decided to pick up the fifth-year option on offensive lineman David DeCastro's contract, reports 98.5 The Sports Hub.

DeCastro has started 31 games at guard for the Steelers over the last two seasons.

Good move since we have Beachum to deal with next offseason and perhaps Adams. This gives us one less contract headache after the season.

I'm thinking they extend Beachum and Heyward this summer. They will have more cap space after Troy decides to do whatever he' going to do or the Steelers decide for him.

As a former defender of Adams pick -- that one was a miss. It's irritating to watch someone talk the talk but waste their talent like him.

That's his hit for 2016. Most likely they'll redo his deal next spring/summer but if he's an elite guard 8M is going to be in the ballpark for his AAV.

Decastro's talent merrits the potential pay. Worilds did NOT. simple math. We cannot afford the time or more draft picks to replace him. this is a legit pick up on the option.
