David Carr and Brandon Boykin think the steelers offense are going to have a dropoff without Antonio Brown and they are not convinced that JuJu is going to have the same success as last year without AB because JuJu is going to have a lot of double coverage.

For me, it will depend on the other WR ... If Washington and the others WR are successful, the steelers will be fine at this position

Ben Roethlisberger is a HOF QB and he has always produced whether it was during the Bell and AB era or before, so I do not see why he will not continue ... A HOF QB is able to overcome the weaknesses of a team if the steelers have it and Ben was a HOF QB before Brown and Bell, he was during during this era and he will continue to be!

There is enough talent on this team to spread that ball around. If Juju is doubled you have Conner,Jaysam,Mcdonald, DM, Switz and Rogers and Washington and the rook to throw to.

Yep I agree there is plenty of talent to go around that Ben can spread the wealth rather than trying to force **** at times to keep Mr.Little Chest Happy. I like the triplets of JaConn, JaySam, and Benny Snell too and actually think it makes our running game more versatile. I'm in!

Ben will be the NFL's leading passer again and the passing game will be top 5 in all categories. Running game will be top ten.

I predict......SB champ. Nothing else matters where they rank. :)

Boykin and Carr offensive expectations are offensive to me

David Carr ranked his brother as the fourth best QB heading into the 2018 season. I'm not too worried what he thinks, but there isn't a guy who is going to replace what Brown could do on the field. He was a threat to score every touch and made the catches few guys in the league could make. However, the Steelers no longer have any guys in the lineup they have to force feed.

David Carr is a tool who has been dissing the STEELERS all year. Like most talking heads, either don't have any better insight than many here on this board. One thing those talking heads can do and do real well is regurgitate their material over and over to near perfect proof it's true..................... This poster knows better.

Its going to come down to Ben, Washington / Moncrief, and McDonald's health. Ben needs to take what is there as far as dump offs and what not. Ben will have a huge chip on his shoulder and I hope he does not let his ego get in the way by trying to throw bombs all day. Just take the easy yards please... Washington has to improve to take some pressure off JuJu and Moncrief needs to learn and gel with the system quickly. McDonald needs to stay healthy because we have no real quality depth at TE. Hopefully that will be addressed somehow.

I've said it in other threads, i think they passed more last year in an effort to not overuse Conner and not being too trusting in what Jaysam and Ridley would be.

Now that Jaysam has shown something and they may have gotten a short yardage back, i expect a more balanced offense.

"Balanced ", partially, in the sense of the other thread where some people might consider these short drop off passes to be running plays. Also, with some more reliance on the running game.

Ben won't have the yards he had last year and will have less ints due to less passing, but, also lower int ratio.

Oh, and I'm fichner (sp?), i run several offensive plays start with 2 RB in the backfield. JaySam and Conner most plaus, one of those and Snell on short yardage.

Quite a few of those will put it one of those in motion before the snap, but they start in the backfield together.

Fichner should have an expanded playbook this year. With Samuel's in his second year, and now having some experience. Add to that Washingtons experience and I think we may see a few new plays. Remember, Fichner was supposed to be the creative one on offense. Let's see what he has.

Ya know what I say? **** David Carr who while here in Houston was sacked like three thousand times with at least half of them on his head. He was a bust and isn’t even in the same conversation with Ben a future HOF QB. And Boykin who was here for what, ten minutes? Two total clueless ex jocks that remain irrelevant.

Its all about the WRs being able to run good routes and get open. Ben will get them the ball. I have said this numerous time but I believe a huge X factor for the offense will be McDonald in the middle of the field. We need him to be healthy.

Of course David Carr and Brandon Boykin will spout this. That is the easy (and lazy) "observation" to make about the Steelers. God I can't wait for AB to stop being a topic for this team and this tea being a topic. Of course, the only way they can put AB in the past is to go out and win. The first sign of any struggles and the talking heads will jump all over it and start nashing about AB.

I think the offense will be more controlled than explosive, which will actually be better.
The defense has to be better, so I see good things occurring.

David Carr, lol

Unfortunately, some media or fan will compare the stats of JuJu to AB and the stats of Conner to Bell this year!

We will have to live with that, but the most important thing is going to be the wins!

The fact that both of them are gone will help the steelers to have a lot less drama and have a better team spirit .... Some think that the steelers have always had a toxic locker room with Tomlin and Ben, but it's not true! ... Before AB became a star and Bell was with us, the steelers were a team, not just individual ... The losses of leaders like James Farriors and Hines Ward after the 2011 season have hurt to the steelers too, but now I think that this problem is maybe over ... Young players like Watt, JuJu have spoken in this off season to be ready to be leaders who was great to hear!

It remains to be proven and we will see that when the steelers are going to have adversity, but good chance that the steelers will not imploded like at the end of last year.

If I had to guess the Steelers will rank somewhere between

8th to 15th in yard gained.

9th-17th in terms of point scored.

This could be enough, but only if we don't turn the ball over as often as we did. Ben needs to cut down in 3-4 interceptions throw, and Conner needs to hold on to the football better as he fumbled too often in 2018.

The lack of speed at WR, I think will hurt. AB was a royal pain in the @ss, but you can not deny his big play ability.

Thats rather optimistic considering the running game was next to last in the league last year.

we were next to last in ypg rushing last year. That is, partially, due to the running/pass play selection, I would guess. We were 24th in rushing yards per play at 4.19.

And yet our o line is considered one of the best and our running back Conner made the pro bowl.

Still odd if we were 24th in yards per play on rushing. I would have thought we were higher.

They were dead last in attempts. And they averaged a healthy 4.2 YPC on the ground. You're cherry picking.

Also,Samuels and Conner were at 4.5 and 4.6 ... The reason why our YPC was lower was because of Roethlisberger (98 yards in 31 runs) and Ridley (80 yards in 29 runs)
