Funny how he names Derrek Brooks and Warren Sapp. He never coached those guys. He watched them play and practice up close. I coach defensive backs on an academy team composed of many elite players. I do not coach the linebackers and defensive lineman. I watch them practice when we do team and change scheme, but I do not tell a grade twelve defensive lineman who is going to play university football next year (if there is a season) what to do. That would be ludicrous. The first time he could use the word coached globally (haha) is when he DC'd the Vikings. He wouldn't even know the everyday drills on defensive line and linebacker.

All due respect—that’s ridiculous.

In 5 years you think he never interacted with the 2 best players on an All-Time great defense?

But more importantly—he gave answer that didn’t give a reason for desperate 24 hour news cycle to spin

He picked the 3 guys in the Hall of Fame. He referred to the most likely Hall of Fame WR. There’s no story there either way.

Just imagine if he said Antonio Brown as WR, it’d be on every network right now.

I think SteelerSask is pointing out that as DB coach, Tomlin never actually COACHED Brooks or Sapp. He was asked to name the three best defenders he COACHED. Those players would have to be a DB from the Bucaneers team, or a defensive player from the Vikings or Steelers.

And then you butthurt a Steeler player or Buc player that wasn't picked or the media has a field day. You pick the least likely resistant answer knowing the media is a bunch of hobknobbers.

None can doubt slash's veracity, nor his eloquence.

So what about James Harrison or Cam Heyward. Are they butthurt. The equipment manager interacted with Sapp and Brooks. He didn't coach them. Neither did Tomlin.

What about Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, Jack Ham, and Joe Greene?!?!? Rod Woodson, Kevin Greene? Hall of Famers, one and all.

Heyward is still playing I doubt he would go that route. Harrison with how he left probably is a subject avoided. I am not saying there was some good options left on the table I again think he took what he perceived to be the safest answer.

I would say he coached John Lynch. Any great players when he was DC in Minnesota for one ****** year, and anyone on the Steelers roster since he took over the team. Truth of Tomlin is that he came in lacking the scheme chops. He still cannot fix anything with scheme. He won a title and an AFC championship when he had coordinators to do that for him. Since. Not so much. He is a very good leader of men, he is a good judge of personnel and talent. He just can't play chess with the best. Has to win by talent. He gets worked by Belichik and even Hairball mostly anyone who can match talent.

He also didn’t directly coach Harrison and Heyward. That was up to their position coach. I’m not a Tomlin apologist but your comparison doesn’t make sense. He was a position coach on a defense that worked with defensive players. He was asked a question and answered. Just because it doesn’t fit your warm and fuzzies on the Steelers doesn’t make his answer incorrect.

If Tomlin Coached those guys we would be looking for one for the third or fourth finger at best.

And if Chuck Noll coached the group of guys Tomlin has had,......... We'd be showing our toes to count them all. (Including Noll's 70s)

Noll won 2 playoff games in his last 9 seasons. Tomlin has won 3 playoff games in his last 9 seasons with a HOF QB.

Are we leaving off those 4 SB victories? I have been quiet on Tomlin as we are winning, but I think we shouldn't head to head these two coaches as SB victories for me everytime would slam the debate door shut.

Exactly. And by mentioning these two over Steelers he actually coached could rub some of his former and current players the wrong way.

What an idiot we have for a head coach.

I have been critical of Tomlin in some areas mainly playoff issues. But why do you always have to belittle coaches and players? With your track record of being proved wrong on this forum you would think you would soften your stance with attacking players and coaches. But here you are with your usual bullshit. Btw you never answered that gender question, if you are a transformer that is your business of course. But are you male or female? I hate to be harsh on females is why I ask the repetitive question you avoided answering like it was a Covid encounter. Let us see if you have the courage to answer.

1 ) He didn't coach the players he mentioned. DUH.

2 ) As a current coach with the Steelers, I bet those who read this article and were friends with X or Current Steeler stars might say, Coach Tomlin, said what? It's a loyalty thing, you don't pick other players unless you are retired. Never mind, you won't understand. Your too stupid. On the big O thing that was a joke, you asked for details, and I gave them. I'm a straight guy who's married with children. You probably have neither. I cant imagine a person who would want to spend a lot of time with the likes of you. If the truth hurts, so F'n be it.

Courage to answer? From you? HA!

Now my turn. Are you that much of a loser to angrily reply to all of my post, many of which are football-related? If you want to compare the draft ( Claypool a 3rd round pick in your book! ), talk about players. or X's and O's if not going to work out well for you and your anger management ways. Give that a try sometime, that is if you have the courage. I'll be nice to start.

I once asked are you a PTSD person, as I won't bother you if you are. You never replied. Take your meds.

Not leaving off the 4 SBs, just pointing out that the 1980's were the Great Recession years of the franchise and, despite that, Noll managed to win 2 playoff games with garbage at QB in his last 9 seasons whereas Tomlin only won 3 the past 9 seasons. Juxtapose those together and it offers historical perspective on the '10s and Tomlin underachieving with these rosters.

Thanks for the clarification, I misinterpreted your previous post. You are absolutely right about the lower end QBs NOLL had to deal with and the ,missed opportunity(S) while ROETHLISBERGER has been at the helm.

Have a great day
