Tons left. In skill. Look at the names. Three Running backs and Higgins. If that falls bad there will be a big ugly there. The way it was moving I thought they would deal Juju. I'm fine without that. Get a player and let's go!!

I'm stoked! we won't drop back if a stud is there. Cushenberry, Higgins, Dobbins, Baun, Taylor, Jones. And if Hurts goes before us, another player drops. Some draft assesments are all over the place.

Balt and Dal both locked into BPA and got tremendous value with their picks. 2 teams traded up for 2nd round talent. Odd, but that's the way the draft goes.

only one edge player taken in the first round .......... several good prospects still there
no safeties taken
no IOL taken other than RUIZ

PFT now has WR Chase Claypool going to us in their second day mock.

The only thing that concerns me with the skill position players, is that teams seem to be on the KC Chiefs blueprint, of screw defense, we're just going to score 40 points and out score everyone, alot of those skill guys could go before we pick.
I'd love to get a top RB

WR: Higgins, Shenault, Mims, Hamler
RB: Dobbins, Swift, Taylor
C: Cushenberry
OT: Jones, Niang, Cleveland
EDGE: Epenesa, Gross Matos, Baun
S: McKinney, Delpit
DT: Mandubuike, Gallimore, Blacklock (though personally I don't want a NT so early)

I'm not even counting CBs (I'm expecting an early run of the top 3 available before our pick hopefully), just BPA at positional needs

Stolen from another site

Blacklock, Jonathan Taylor, Chase Claypool, J.K.Dobbins. I think the guard or NT will be 3rd rd. Doctson, Lewis, or Benito Jones.

If some of these players keep sliding, I look for the Steelers to trade down and get an extra pick. The value is insane right now.

SI has us taking Dobbins at 2.49 and Davon Hamilton in the 3rd

I can see us taking Dobbins (though if it fell that way, we'd be passing on a **** ton of talent for a RB)

There are ways this can fall where a running back would best the best option, but I agree we'd be passing on talent and I don't know if Dobbins is anything significantly better than what we already have now. Conner still has at least one more year with the Steelers and Snell showed some nice flashes last year. We've also seen both Bell and Conner make big leaps after their first NFL offseason of training. We could see Snell take a similar step forward.

I agree. Snell is a workhorse type RB and could very well make a huge leap this season. I'd bank on that instead of dropping a pick on a RB this year.
I'm more wanting a LB next to Bush or a CB who can step in after Joe hangs it up. I don't have confidence in Layne.

though... just looked at the depth chart on steelers.com
we have a glaring hole in starters...

LG, NT, LILB

hopefully we don't draft out of need and take BPA, as IMO, all three of those positions can be filled later.

Bottom line is we will get a impact player, and still have a chance to slide back get another pick or 2 and still get an impact player. we are in a good position.

Dobbins has a chance to be a better RB than Conner. I think he has better vision and acceleration. I think with Cush that would be an equal value, so wouldn't shock me to see a C picked and moved to G to start his career. When things are equal you go higher need. Which is what I think they would do in this scenario. The thing is Snell isn't equal to those mentioned and probably will never be. The wildcard is JC's habitual injuries. Still a starting G is still needed, the only position that a player could start right away. Which wouldn't shock me to see Cleveland or Cush drafted and moved to G. I think if the Steelers go RB it will be 2 or 3. If not I think they will bypass the position altogether.

I don't think they will be sliding back in this draft. Or trading up for that matter.

I agree Steel. Anyone but a sure fire workhorse or at least a 50-50% player is a wasted pick. The roster is loaded with those guys already. And that is being pessimistic about what is already there in terms of a quality back. I believe they will get an impact player for this season today (if there is a season).

Ol Goodell is preaching hard that there will be. I have a feeling at worst it is a no fans scenerio. With an outside chance at a shortened season.

the other scenario is getting Josh Jones and starting him at RT, moving Feiler inside.

LG is a glaring hole. However, there just isn't much at the position worth taking in the second round. Vince Williams is starter capable, but we could find an upgrade. We haven't had or really used a true nose tackle since Casey Hampton retired. It's not a position that Tomlin values and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

agree, those positions can be addressed in mid-late rounds, especially NT

I want one of the Wisconsin guys, Taylor or Baun. RB's seem to be able to help immediately and step right in and contribute. Conner is good when healthy but that's only 5-6 games, Snell is a workhorse but he's not a game changer or multi dimensional RB that anyone fears and when he's in there, you're not afraid of him as a dual threat.
Baun can play OLB and ILB, and we don't have depth at either position.

RB is where I hope we really go.
