The Pittsburgh Steelers made another commitment to Head Coach Mike Tomlin in the 2024 offseason, rewarding him with a fresh three-year contract. Fans have come to expect that it's much more likely that, one day, he decides to walk away from the organization rather than the franchise firing him in any capacity. The Rooney family has been loyal to him since he was hired in 2007, but that doesn't mean that many others on the coaching staff will have a pass if the team continues its December collapse into the month of January. Another year with a playoff win would simply be unacceptable.

Tomlin was handed a Super Bowl Team where he got one. It's been a painful downward slide ever since. The Rooney family needs to pay more attention to the Steelers fans. For example, (1) immediately hire a head coach who can take the team to the next level and (2) provide a home schedule that thinks about the season ticket holders who work, instead of $$ for multiple prime time games.

I doubt they do it, it’s Tomlins defense, he runs it, everybody knows it. Plus it’s still a top 10 defense. Rooney would be exposed as a massive coward, firing everyone but the real problem

If they do fire Austin it’s either an internal promotion or the bigggest patsie ever- no credible coach takes that job

Easier said than done. Way easier.

Steelers defense it the HIGHEST PAID DEFENSE IN NFL --- they SHOULD be in the top ten of NFL defenses.
Teryl Austin has the easiest DC coaching job in NFL - with the players/budget he has

Does anyone really believe that the OC and DC DON'T fall in line with the vision Tomlin has for this team? If they didn't it is doubtful that they get hired.

It's his team we're seeing, no matter the stooge with the clipboard.

The irony is that we wondered early on in his tenure how involved Tomlin was in the Xs and Os as he seemed more a CEO brought in to keep the apple cart going. The more he got his fingers in the pot over the last decade the more the team's fortunes have slid. He owns it all now.

Nope. This is Tomlin's baby. It's been that way since he ran Dick LeBeau off.

And it has looked EXACTLY the same no matter what DC he sticks in as the fall guy.

They change up nothing significantly. It's boring, lacks any real creativity, no contingency plans and it's scared&soft.

It's way, way, way, way, way, waaay out of the norm for what a Pittsburgh Steelers Defense should be.

They're wasting their money on defense if this is how it's always going to be.

That Fox interview where he took umbrage at "player's coach" and referred to DL as "an old white guy" was revealing to this day. He resented that DL had real defensive coaching chops and yet revered by the players. Tomlin thought he could take it over and do better.

Like many players, it has appeared our owner has been Tomlinized years ago.

Salute the nation
While I can only speak for myself as a fan, my enthusiasm for this team has waned over the last few years, knowing (expecting) the same results, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in this opinion.
I also realize that I am no longer the target audience for the NFL anymore, while at the same time wondering just who that audience is.

Most of us are old enough to remember the down years in the past, but this is different. Then I always had a sense that things would improve, any given Sunday n'at. Now, no expectations whatsoever until the house is cleaned.

Mr. Rooney, do the right thing.

A loss in Baltimore I think creates a scapegoat scenario in Steelerland and I believe it will be DC Terrell Austin and OL Coach Pat Meyer.
Just my thoughts! We all know who it won’t be!
Well if they fire Meyer that might actually result in some real change/improvement

Firing Austin won’t change much

Any chance Munchak could be convinced to return??

Arthur Smith. The offense hasn't been very good and he's about the last hwyte guy left for the Tomlin Fan Club to blame.
