If Ben is truly back, I expect him to throw it deep on either his first pass or in the first series. I really think he will look for something deep on the first throw.
I would be ok with a short to intermediate passing game. I am hoping the run game is effective so it isn't all on Ben in his first game back.

I am OK with Ben throwing for over 500 yards for the 4th time
JuJu, McFarland and Chase over a 100 yards receiving each
Conner over 200 yards on the ground
The DEF pitching a shutout
Chris Boswell 2 50 plus yard field goals and 7 converts
Mike Tomlin winning 2 challenges

Then next week they can amp it up a bit more....... :rapture2:

After last seasons shitshow opening game against NE,the season before that a horrible effort against the Browns,I am looking for some fire. Some energy. Signs that they have had a whole off season to prepare for the Giants. Focused and ready. They have the talent. It’s time for me to quit telling everyone this is the year. It’s time for them to do it. From the coaching on down. No excuses, there’s tons of veterans.

It’s frigging time!

I just hope Fichtner has his shee-ite together.

You and I both. Randy best show some improvement because injury isn't the problem this year and Canada has enough time to influence him. I hope he puts to rest that he's continued there out of Coach Tomlin friendship.

The Steelers are going to lose an ugly game to a ****** Giants team. All of you should prepare yourselves for that.

Me too. Kill them with 1000 cuts...deep ball be damned until we get a rhythm...

Ya gotta admit that Sarge has the odds here Berm. Ever recall a Tomlin led team coming outta the gate strong...huh? Add the fact that they haven't even scrimmaged yet let along worked on timing against an unfamiliar opponent.

I will say true slow out of the gates but I counter that with a solid Monday night record. Hopefully the two cancel each other out. Also factoring Ben's hunger that is an unmeasurable factor. Then you measure in his time away from the game and that probably cancels each other out too at least out of the gates. I prefer they lean on the run early to avoid possible early turnovers.

I agree overall for that but I think Ben will want to go deep and it is imperative for him to prove to himself and the league that he can not only throw the deep ball but fit the ball in tight spots on those shorter routes. I probably won't watch any other football other than the Steelers. I am so pumped for this game!

I'd say it is likely. The Steelers are notoriously slow starters, and Ben hasn't played in a year. Plus, there was no real training camp, no scrimmages or pre-season games. If a person really thinks that it is all going to be sunshine and rainbows they are fooling themselves. I think it is highly likely that the Steelers are going to struggle until week 3-4.

It would surprise the hell out of me if Tomlin had the team prepared or even started on a game plan before last Wednesday.

I stand by my much earlier prediction. They go 0-4, the season is cancelled because of covid, and they are in the running for pick #1 in the draft next year.

Manage the game. Ball security and avoid interceptions. Make them play the long field against this defense. Capitalize on their errors.

He started 2 weeks ago when they broke camp and stated it in his presser then.

This all day long. That team isn't a Juggernaut if they follow this blueprint I think they leave with a victory.
