In an exclusive interview with NFL Network this week, Steelers’ star running back Le’Veon Bell was asked again about the progress of his long-term extension with Pittsburgh.*“We’re a lot closer than we were last year at this time.*That’s what I’m happy about,”*Bell explained.*“I have confidence we’ll get it done. I want to do it,” he […]

Why does this make me more anxious than excited? Probably because if they come to terms on a long term contract, I know they will have to deal with many more of his shenanigans in the years to come. Sigh.

Yep, how I see it also. Part of me wants Bell to hit FA next year and see who pays him what.

There are 5 teams next year with $50 million in cap space and 16 with at least $20 million in cap space. Bell is gonna get some serious cash next year if he hits free agency. I could absolutely see the Jets breaking the bank to pair with Darnold. They have $77 million in cap space.

closer to parting ways?

I am against signing Bell for anything near what he wants. It appears the Steelers are caving a bit, and if they do i hope they protect themselves. I would put clauses in his contract where if he tests positive the contract is void. I would also worry about work ethic and what not, but not sure how you could work that into a contract. My biggest concern is Bell will get all this money and get suspended or just not put in the work anymore.

The Steelers will already be financially strapped if they sign him. If they lose his services as a player and have to pay him it will set the team back several years

Because you are probably thinking that the Steelers will offer him a very generous offer, which is agreed upon by Bell's agent, only to have Bell come in and decline it.

Hey, if the Steelers sign him to an extension, they can immediately trade him and Fu to the Browns for Barkley and 2 first rounders.

Wait, the Browns failed to drafter Barkley?? The drafted Baker Mayfield?!? And some CB??!?!?!?!?

@#$%ing Browns could ruin a wet dream.

hopefully he takes if he wants to stay 14 per year 4 years 56 23 guaranteed more than freeman in guaranteed if he wants more he can go to die in jersey.

I don't want them to do it unless it's $13 million or less but he wants at least $14.5 million and probably more. I'd rather have a top 5 RB at 8 or 9 million and use the rest on another position of need like ILB.
