On Wednesday the Steelers signed defensive tackle Cavon Walker, and offensive Lineman Jarron Jones. Walker and Jones most recently played in the XFL for the New York Gladiators. Walker, 25, is listed at 6’2 286 pounds. He adds some much needed depth to the defensive front for the Steelers. Walker posted 4.5 sacks and 5 […]

They questioned Barron's commitment to the game. He was a Dlineman conversion. He kept at it and was playing for the XFL. So it appears the commitment is there. There is some talent there as well. We'll see.

you still got Mark Barron on the mind

Very much so.... the Steelers have three concerns:

1 Starting guard - Competition is needed - Not sure the answer is on the roster
2 Inside coverage (replacing Barron's coverage reps) Bush will pick up some but who is competent enough to handle the remainder of the reps? Not sure the answer is on the roster.
3 NT -They did a good job fortifying the DE position, not so much at NT. -Not sure the answer is on the roster

we can go 4 and 5 if you talk about a more stable RB and a WR that can stretch the field.

I do think they will draft:

A G or T
RB
NT

Chances are they will complete the band of the hand.

But even then they still might need to add a free agent or two.

We'll see.

Camp bodies but maybe they have something to prove. Walker looks strong on his bull rush. Jones has incredible length.

Not too excited about a player no one seems to want.

Jones was on the Seahawks, Cowboys, and Buccaneers practice squad . Was with the Lions and Bills last year but never played a down.

I guess we see something in this guy that no one else does.

Chances are you are right. But nobody wanted Deebo and nobody wanted Villanueva, and there is others.

Plenty of undrafted have made this team and contributed. Some from even other leagues. Perhaps one or two of the not well knowns will make the squad

and maybe they won't.

You don't come up with a new recipe in the living room, if you can lalala smell what I am cooking.

The Steelers have signed safety
@Tkinnel_2 (Tyree Kinnel)
from XFL.

The former Wolverine and teammate of
@_Dbush11
is the 3rd XFL player the Steelers have signed today!

PS thanks Justine for the write up with the info. Weather these guys make it or not ONE must admit there is NFL caliber players in the XFL. I think Vince McMahn may have something here, this time around.

As for the STEELERS bringing them in (3rd one & thanks slash), it will be determined as to if they stick or not. I'm all for bringing justifiable players in and if our coaching staff dream them justifiable, then he'll yea.

It takes test drives to find out what you are looking for & anyone of these guys could be what they are looking for and if NOT, then CUT, no harm done.

Salute the nation

Here's something we discussed on the podcast. I noticed the Steelers seem to have zero interest in a pure NT. Everyone they are brining in are 3-5 Tech players. We also have one of the longest current tenured players on any Pittsburgh roster - Dan McCullers and he was inactive for some games last year, and was barely utilized. I think the Steelers have moved away from a front 3 and like having that extra tackling safety with 2 DL.

heh. kuntz

Honestly, I'd be happy if we signed a 6th. I want ILB depth and Steven Johnson led the league in tackles and TFLs. Sign em Colbert!!!!

On the call today Colbert mentioned that a few other XFL players are in the works besides the ones signed. So we could very well see one or two more signed....

i assume they are just filling out the roster for camp. Most of these guys would just be street FA's if the XFL didn't exist for the time it did. At least that gives a more recent snapshot into what the players can do and their conditioning, but in the end, still woulda been street UFA for the most part.

Of course, you never know when you will find a gem so you gotta dig.

let's see after the draft we dont draft a ILB that can comfortable drop back 5-7 yds then I see them making a push to bring barron back.

And another.

Monday, they announced the signing of wide receiver Saeed Blacknall, who played for the Los Angeles Wildcats.

He’d be their sixth such signing, joining defensive lineman Cavon Walker, offensive lineman Jarron Jones, safety Tyree Kinnel, long snapper/linebacker Christian Kuntz, and defensive end Dewayne Hendrix.

Blacknall, undrafted out of Penn State spent the 2018 season on the Raiders practice squad, and went to camp with the Dolphins last year, and eventually did a stint on the Cardinals practice squad.

Saeed Blacknall not to be confused with Will Blackmail who has held onto those pictures for all these years without cashing them out.
