QB (3): Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, Joshua Dobbs Delvin Hodges*has made a very interesting run. But he is not making the roster. And it’s really not close. Mason Rudolph/Josh Dobbs preseason battle was fun, but Rudolph came out out top. He looked very comfortable in the pocket, made wonderful adjustments and improvisations, and threw the […]

For some reason I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around keeping both Eli & Switzer, just seems like overkill, same type of player.

I think Skipper has made the team, over Chickillo or in some other fashion.

Bold prediction keeping Berryman over Berry, we'll see how that plays out. Didn't seem like either of them stood out, ties usually go to the incumbent.

Nice write up Aadi but I can't see both Eli & Switz when it should be one or the other with Spencer in. I like the PS but hope Dobbs could be traded and Hodges moved up. Thank You

I think they might choose Dangerfield over Allen. And not sure about Berryman either..............

There are 7 game day inactives so this special teams bull crap is just another sorry Tomlinism , Special teams will not be the reason we don;t keep Skipper it will be to keep a poor player with experience , Chickillo..

I think they do keep Rogers and Switz. And I think they stick with Berry.
I really hope they can deal Dobbs and keep Duck, heck if we get down to playing our 3rd string QB we might be in trouble anyway. I don't think we are going to see much more from Dobbs than we already have so I say we develop the Duck man.

"There is one thing that might prevent Skipper from making the 53-man roster. He’s played only three snaps on special teams in the first three preseason games. Any reserve linebacker must play on special teams in order to make the team.

Skipper doesn’t know why he hasn’t been recruited to play special teams. He said he excelled on them while at Toledo.

“I have no clue,” Skipper said. “I don’t know. I’m pushing to be on special teams. I’m a big advocate for special teams. I want to play special teams. In college, I loved playing special teams. They called me a ‘war daddy’ on kickoffs. I used to love running down there and blowing things up.”

So I guess the obvious question is, why isn't Tuzar Skipper playing special teams?

that's why.

I'm in a wait and see mode for tomlin's performance. With the meMEme twins GONE, he should have less aggravation and MORE coaching time on his hands. Let's see what he does with that.

This is definitely a time where he has a lot of talent so I hope his talent can quantify team talent.

Yeah, put me in the "can't keep both Rogers & Switzer" camp. I have a feeling they keep Spencer over one of the two. Would also hope to see Dobbs dealt. Rudolph is clearly the better of the two. I'll be shocked if they don't keep Gilbert and Skipper. The homer in me is really hoping Buggs makes it as well. As for Dangerfield or Marcus Allen, it seems Dangerfield has the advantage.

Best guess Steelworth is that Tuzar's not a bubble guy and they want to look at players who are. They've got to put him on the 53 as he won't last on the PS with the tape he's put out there.

I don't think Tomlin ever planned on keeping him. They brought him in late. But now, they can't ignore him. I look for him to get the special teams snaps tonight.

From Gerry Dulac chat right now:

12:56 What do you think the odds are of keeping both U. Gilbert and T. Skipper on the roster?
12:56 Odds are not good at all to keep both. And odds are better they will keep Gilbert than Skipper.

I really hope this isn't the case.

More from Dulac chat:

1:16 Who do you expect to have a breakout season this year?
1:17 James Washington. That's an easy one. Terrell Edmunds too

Both looked really good from what I have seen. I really like what I see with Edmunds...beast of year coming for him I think.

He is a prime example of why not to get caught up too much in mock draft rankings.

Here is an interesting chart of past positional 53. The numbers game. (Per SD)

Don't see them going IR with Ola again which really wastes another half year and I have no issues with Gilbert getting the nod with his coverage skills. Just hate to see Skipper being outside looking in, too good not to coach up. Maybe we'll see a surprise release again like last year with Landry, this year with Dirty Red or Chick.

I've seen enough of Chick. Good guy. Not a terrible player but no way I let Skipper walk. You put him and Ola in the blender and you might get a bona fide starter next season and not have to spend a premium pick to replace Dupree. If they believed Chick was a starter why would they pick up the expensive option on Dupree.
