Well, Bosa was a top 3 pick. Not everyone wants to play for the Chargers.
Edmunds according to the media which includes former players, scouts and GM's was not projected to be a first-round pick. He has a chance to play a lot as a rookie. These days the amount of money allocated per pick has limited flexibility. If he missed 2 weeks of camp, that would suck for his production as a rookie.
It doesn’t matter that Bosa was a top 3. He was a first rounder. All first rounders have 5th year options. The players have their union to blame for this. They agreed to the parameters of the rookie scale. Left out in the fold were agents....Boo hoo hoo. They are the ones along with the players who get screwed if the option is forfeited by trade. De Smith literally dropped the ball on that part of the negotiation for a rookie scale.
