Stabler dies

I wish the title of this thread was Stabler, he lived!

Sad. Great games against us in the 70s. Loved football in those days.

How true. Dirty, mean, intense football in those days. ****, I am sounding old. The rivalry with the raiders was as intense as any rivalry in sports. As much as I loved my Steelers, there were always a couple players you respected, for me The Snake was one,Earl Campbell the other. Rest in peace Ken

Great player. RIP Snake.

He was the long time radio color analyst for Alabama football with Eli Gold. Loved him in that role. His football insight was excellent and his color was...."colorful." Always felt comforted when Bama was playing Ike crap and the Snake would just start going off on how stupid this play or that decision was. Ran into him on a restaurant gig in Tuscaloosa once. God bless Kenny Stabler.

The era of football that I remember as football is literally dying away. Sad. RIP.

I'll always have that memory burned in my brain of Kenny Stabler racing down the sideline in the closing minutes of the 72 playoff game against the Steelers in what had been a scoreless tie in a great defensive battle. I was stunned as were the other thousands of fans that cold Saturday in Janiuary at Three Rivers Stadium. I turned to my cousin who attended the games with me (season ticket holders) and said, well thats it. Little did I know that I was about to witness the Immaculate Reception". To be honest with you all, when the Steelers had the ball and it was 4'th down I couldn't watch and turned away and missed the pass from Bradshaw to Frenchy to Tatum to Harris. I turned back when I heard the roar of the crowd.

RIP Kenny! You was a good one and deserve to be in the HOF.
