I don't think there is any chance he returns. Randy Fichtner is the leading candidate in my opinion. Jim Caldwell was a finalist for the job when Arians left.

Whats Chan Gailey doing? Still in Buffalo?

Randy or Munch, makes the most sense to keep the system and verbiage in place at least until Ben hangs them up.

Randy Fichtner

Definitely... Randy Fichtner.

I know that people mention Munchak... yet, I don't know that has any experience calling plays and installing an offense.

Minnesota's QB coach (can't remember his name) or our QB is probably who gets it. I just hope he hasn't been to demonetized by tequila Todd. I also hope who ever we get can keep Benjamin Rothlesberger disciplined.

Salute the nation

Seattle fired Darrell Bevel. Their offense was good when they had a decent OL but when the OL went to **** and they had no run game, the offense just became Wilson running for his life.

Found him!

It will be Fitchner without a doubt.

If the Steelers look elsewhere I'll be shocked. But happy to move on from Haley

Will Munch be upset if they don't tap him and he has to work under some other team's former QB coach? You know, egos.

Fichtner. Ben likes him. At this point Ben has enough clout that they will hire who he wants.

They don't need to install an entirely new offensive system. They'll want the same terminology, the same calls, etc. Fichtner is the logical answer. If Munchak wants it, you give him strong consideration as well.

Todd Haley could be on the outs in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette suggests there's a real possibility the Steelers move on from OC Todd Haley.

Haley does not have a contract for 2018, and his relationship with Ben Roethlisberger became increasingly fractured in 2017. One Steelers source told the Post-Gazette that one of the reasons Big Ben openly contemplated retirement was his failing rapport with Haley. The two "rarely talked along the sidelines," and "never huddled to discuss strategy" during games.

Roethlisberger reportedly requested QBs coach Randy Fichtner to come down from the booth to create a game-day "buffer" between the quarterback and Pittsburgh's OC.

Fichtner is reportedly a "strong candidate" to replace Haley if he isn't re-signed.

I don't think it really matters all that much who the OC is with this group we have on offense. Just stay the **** out of the way.

That pretty much sums up Tomlins first 5 years with the team.

we put up 40 on a tough D. Haley isn't the problem.. It's Butler

The opening quarter is the epitome of Todd Haley, THAT is his offense. Once we went no-huddle and Ben started calling plays we became explosive. Not to mention, Haley being gone is probably the only reason Ben has said he wants to play 3 more years. Ben is worth 10,000,000 times more to this team than Haley.

Fittipaldo stated in his chat that more and more of this defense is Tomlin...I believe it, the more he takes control, the worse it gets.

Ben and Haley have an interesting relationship to say the least, since Ben has committed to returning and for 3 years potentially, I think you have to remove Haley from the equation and put someone in his place that will work well with Ben. As a matter of fact, just give the reins to Ben and hire a coach to work with Ben during the week to install the game plan, but on Sunday, send him to the booth and let Ben call the game.
