So in hindsight was Bell wrong to ask for WR money

75 catches 579 yards second behind Brown 99 catches. Add in his 283 carries and 1105 yds. Also when he went out with a knee you saw his value in Pass pro as the blitz wasnt picked up twice and Ben was sacked and hit. I really hope Bell and the Steelers find way to come to terms. But he really was villified or riduculed for asking for 2WR accomodations in his contract. But here he is second on the team in receptions and its not close.

A team (the Steelers) still can't afford to pay him like 2 people, regardless of production. I suppose someone will but it will be after next year when the Steelers tag him again.

There is a market. When you try to reestablish that market it causes a problem. If a linebacker can rush like a DE and cover like a safety does he get both salaries. The Steelers made a good offer. Bell rejected and has done his part. If he wants to go for money. Go ahead. Steelers get his best years ir compensation.

PFF had him as 17th RB in the league...

Then PFF is a joke. His YPC is down but there still is not a back in the league that would create more matchup problems. I think he has overdone his style. He needs to change it up and hit the hole hard sometimes.

Are they? You might agree with them on many highly rated Steelers. Or on Steelers that have stunk out the joint this season. With our OL and skill players, I think most NFL backs would do better here.

Bell's best value could be his reliability and versatility. A clutch chain mover type, I just wish he was faster and more dynamic. Probably our 3rd most important player on offense.

Steelers offered him right about what two franchise tags would get him. I can't imagine why he would sign that. He was guaranteed almost half of that this year. He expected he would perform well and someone next year would offer him more or, the Steelers would franchise him again. He bet on himself not failing another drug test or getting hurt and, at this point, seems to be winning. If he gets a severe injury before the season/post season was over, he will have lost.

Not only does he run and catch, he is awesome in pass protection as well.

NOT WR money, IMO. If he is at WR, he is the #2, How many people pay their #2 WR $17M/year?

The real question is how many years he can duplicate his success? After next year, another year with a ton of touches, when does he wear down?

With Ju-Ju healthy he's more of a #3 WR. And most of those guys make less than 2 million a year.

Franchise him and if someone beats us out then we get draft pick compensation. AS much as he touches the ball he is bound to wear out. We are allready seeing the early start of his fatigue and old injury catching up to him. His yards per carry is down. Franchise money is about his worth this coming year as I don't see a full upcoming year from him. If he is on our team I hope we didn't sign a long term contract and it's just a one year deal next year.

Salute the nation

I think Steelers wanted to see him play a year without suspension or injury. They likely will up their offer, maybe making it back heavy, so that Bell gets paid
when Ben's salary comes off the books.

There is a good reason he is Drafted #1 overall in fantasy football EVERY year, Except for maybe the one year due to a suspension.
You can say its only fantasy football, but all bullshit aside the best, most productive, highly rated, or whatever you want to call it, players get drafted first.
Bell is the best Running back in the league. By Far.
Brown is the Best WR, he is almost always the top receiver drafted. ETC
You cannot argue the fact that he is the #1 Runningback in the league and has been for years, Proven by the fantasy football community.

16th is a joke, pure clickbait.
I would love to hear the argument for the 15 rbs ranked higher than him.
Coach who would you rather have than Bell?

I would pay him. He's earned it. He's been a good teammate. He's gotta stay away from the weed but I think he gets that now.

Can't we just franchise him again for $12M? This worked well

I just wish he was faster & more dynamic.

WTF? Okay I'll give you he is not a blazer, but dynamic?

Not a more dynamic back in the league, period. He and Brown have the 4th highest combined yardage totals as team-mates EVER.....Dynamic as ****

Wrong yes, because they can't afford to pay him that much under the salary cap.

Bell is #9 in the league for the number of receptions. Not #9 amongst RB's. #9 including WR, TE, RB, anyone else catching a pass. That means that there are a lot of teams whose #1 WR doesn't have as many receptions as Bell.

Only 4 players have more TD's than Bell.

and Boz is ******* HUGE

He's 46 in receiving yardage with the lowest ( 7.7 ) yards per catch. 337 receivers average more for catch.

Most #2 Wr's are guys on their first contracts or cheaper vets. That is what paying him as a 2nd WR would mean.
