Mr. "G" you definately do a fantastic job on these podcast(s). Very well run with optimal annunciation, meaning we can understand you (unlike terrel Davis, horse man, etc....).

These interviews give us a nice insight to team characteristics and what not. You ask very good questions and WHYTE RESPONDED WITH VERY GOOD ANSWERS / BACKGROUND.

Not to step on anyone's toes but around the 15:00 min mark the STEELERNATION.com questions were asked in this order

Heinz57
slash
Paul G
badcat
Drink IRON City

My question had to do with his welcoming into and the conduct of the locker room. He expanded well on that topic and I APPRECIATE the insight.

MY HONEST OPINION is.........

Every chance one gets to listen to these interviews as individual players you will get tremendous insight into the day to day of the team. These can help with off season boredom and hunger. "G" Stryker does a wonderful job at interviewing and keeping the pace as to allowing your attention to keep in twined. Thank you for that

Probably also should have asked him what it was like to play in away stadiums when Steeler Nation took over the damn stadium. Will save that one for the next time.

Good work Stryker!

Thanks a ton guys. As you see, with all interviews, there is an ebb and flow, so questions from me, a lot of time, have to do with their responses. So I'll ask them to elaborate, or we'll discuss something that wasn't on my sheet.

I do my research on each player, heck he didn't even know he led his conference in yardage per kick attempt in 18', but we had fun with it, and it shows he is a good returner, which he is.

This was our first rostered player interview, and we're growing the base. Especially when word of mouth happens in the locker room and they share the fun experience of the podcast, hopefully we'll get bigger names. SN is blowing up on social media. We have 400k followers across our platforms, so we're getting bigger and bigger names each interview (rumors are Kevin Greene may be next).

But I'm cool interviewing anyone. Bruce Gradkowski was the most informative interview. Hodge we talked more about life and health, and Rocky is just an awesome human being and can talk about anything. So if you haven't had a chance to listen to those, check out the podcast tab on our site. https://www.steelernation.com/steelernation-podcast/

Thanks DIC, I came here to specifically shout out to our forum members who provided questions, but you already did it! Badcat and ATLSteelers had similiar questions, so I combined that one and mentioned the both of you. I can't get to all of them, and sometimes we end up talking about them within the interview, so they aren't featured, but this is a great way to keep us all involved with our favorite team and get to know our favorite players.

I really appreciate your help and insight! Let's keep this thing going and all have fun with it. GO STEELERS!!!

PS, if any of you jumped on to the podcast in the first hour it was posted, I accidentally missed an edit, and it had an additional 30sec of us talking before we got off of the phone. I removed the edit when our page head editor Brandon Wallace heard it and texted me, but if you had a chance to hear it, you would hear how appreciative Kerrith was. Really a great guy and I wish him the best success on this team. Perhaps Willie Parker Part 2??

Also what are the odds of Whyte getting and being featured back similar to fast willie parker's career ?

Parker needed the "BUS" for mentoring to become as good as he was. Without the mentoring, I don't thin Willie makes it as far as he did. He did have fumblitus and not strong. With the mentoring, he became way less apt to fumble (due directly to Jerome) and hit the weight machines heavily, partly due to Jerome telling him he needs to be able to take the beating RBs take.

Good luck to our thrown in the fire RB.

IMHO, He is competing for Snell's job next year. If he shows speed with power, Snell is in trouble. Conner is #1, Samuels is a diverse #2. Snell and Whyte are competing to be the spell back, backup in case of emergency. Though Whyte is more of a lighting to Conner's thunder and could be a better pass catcher than Snell.

I believe Whyte would be going for Samuels job and not Snell with this slate of RBs anyway.

Great job Cope! That podcast interview was very...nice. :):)

He sounds like a great, enthusiastic young player. I wish him the best. I hope he can kick start our running game next season.

Fantastic work Cope, as always. Wish I was able to throw in my question....but was curious which scout championed him before they poached him from CHI?

That's a great question Ike. I'm going to try and focus some future question submitals towards scouting and coaching.

What exactly does Samuels bring to the table? IMHO he should be the odd man out. He's not really much of a runner. He's just "eh" in pass pro (was bad but has improved slightly). And all the hype surrounding him coming in was that he was this great receiving threat. I haven't really noticed him being anything "special" as a receiver. His hands are average. He gets little to no YAC. I've not noticed him as a great threat. Hard to judge him with last season's QB situation, but he caught a lot of check downs. Just about any RB can do that. I don't remember seeing him do much damage running an actual route more than 3-5 yards down field.

Samuels is the single best receiving threat we've had at RB. The problem is we don't use him. We set the record for passes caught by a RB, then completely forget about him the rest of the year. It's poor execution, poor game planning, and poor coaching not getting Samuels open in space more often. The kid is a mismatch on LBs, and is the type of player that can win against $Bs. I like Whyte as a speed/change of pace back, but he doesn't have Sameuls hands, route running, or pass pro.

And Ike, Steelers were at his School's pro day. So he was on our radar.

Excellent interview, very well done. I look forward to future interviews.

Once defensive coordinator's figured out we couldn't throw the ball down field with Duck, they took away the dump off pass to the RB. We completely forgot about TEs or the middle of the field with slants and crossing patterns. Its almost as if they wanted Duck to drop back and wait for someone to get open like Ben does. This doomed our season but maybe it was more Duck and less the play calling. We saw how Duck's pocket presence wouldn't materialize.

We absolutely need to make sure we have a better back up option for Conner. Last two years he has gone down hurt and we didn't have an adequate back up to pick up the slack running the ball.

Whyte showed some elite speed out there. I like what he brings to the table but I'm not sure he could carry the load.

I've been saying it since his first couple snaps, this kid should be competing on this team and should not be left off the roster. He has the speed we are looking for at RB. I hope he gets a legit shot in camp and preseason as I think he might be one of our top 2 backs if they let Conner walk after next year. And, he may even beat everyone out. Plus, he can return kicks.
