good listen wish I could have heard it live today.

while I am not a fan of fruity beers, a local brewery puts out a series of beers that they age in bourbon barrels and one of the ones they bottled had cherry added which made a nice blend with the beer/bourbon flavor.

so what did you pay him to claim you have wisdom?

Shrewd but GODDAMN Cool how we can josh around and kid each other in openness. ( I know your rsponse..... who's joking ?)

reality is we have a VERY talented board here with all participants exceling in their respective knowledge. Even I get something right once in awhile.

It's nice how you mentioned the "cherry" in the beer while aging. I use to be a "homebrewer" and I made this real good "Cherry Fever Stoudt" I used 10lbs of cherries (crushed pits and all) durring the fermentation period. Was an awesome beer !!!

yeah, the beer was only sold in quart size bottles and was pricey, but after I tried the first one I went back and cleared the shelf.

I bottled mine in 22oz bottles. It was real good stuff and if memory serves it was around 8.7 ABV. I did enter it in 2 different home brew contests and it got 1st over all in one and first in catagory in the other ( not bragging just letting you know the legitamacy of the beer).

Sometimes a guy finds that one beer that is special and then only wants to drink it for special occasions. Guiness was kind of that beer for me especially when they put the nitrogen release that activated upon opening the beer, made it even more exceptional. I don't know if they still do that or not but at the time it was very cutting edge.

these were something like 12.5% ABV and well worth what I spent, they had other versions with espresso or chocolate or vanilla, or just aged in different types of bourbon but the cherry one was the best they did

Guiness was my go to for special occasions for a while also....

That ABV is creeping into what we use to refer to as "beer-wine" . My Cherry Fever was a little more of a sipping beer, the taste VS the ABV was a great match. Me and a friend took a football bus trip to denver to watch the STEELERS play the donkos' and on the way down I had brought a cooler full of it. I passed some out to fellow steelers fans and eventually 1/4 of the bus was buzzing big time. Many couldn't believe it was homebrew beer as they'd say the homebrew they had was always bad crap. One guy had a guitar and we were all singing hillbillie songs, funny as hell and a great buzz.

AaahhH those were some good O'l days
