Sidney Jones' doctor updates teams with 4-6 month recovery timeline
Dan Wilkins Apr 25, 2017 12:43 PM
The projections for Sidney Jones' recovery from a torn Achilles - suffered last month during a pro day workout - continue to look relatively favorable.

Doctor Robert Anderson sent an update to all 32 teams at the outset of draft week Monday, detailing an expectation that Jones would be back to "full activity in four to six months."

The short end of that timeline from today's date would have Jones in line for a return toward the end of training camp.

While it's a fairly wide range, and teams would have to account for the possibility that his rehab ends up closer to six months, the key takeaway here is that Jones could very well have the opportunity to play as a rookie.

The former Washington standout had suggested as much in the weeks following his surgery, and confirmation from Dr. Anderson is an incredibly promising sign.

Jones was widely considered to be a first-round talent before going down with the injury. It may still be unlikely that he's taken within the first 32 picks Thursday night, but the update should help his chances of getting the call early on Day 2.

If he's still there in the 3rd.....maybe

I'd spend our compensatory 3rd on him, but he'll probably be gone by then.
