By G.Stryker SteelerNation.com The Pittsburgh Steelers are a family run organization and the Rooney’s take care of their own. When Ryan Shazier gave the ultimate sacrifice on the field of play for his team in 2017, it was unknown if he would be able to walk again. Since that moment, the Rooney’s have made sure […]

Love Shazier's attitude and wish him nothing but the best. That said.... I am glad the organization has supported him along the way to recovery. Not sure I want to see him in a football uniform again. He has made enough money to live a comfortable life. It would be a shame to witness a tragic repeat. If he can make the transition to coaching it would be nice if it were to happen with the same organization.
Good luck Shaz

According to Pouncey on Twitter, the owners don't care about the players. I wonder what Shazier thinks about that.

I don't see him ever suiting up again but never say never. The STEELERS have been more than accountable towards him and I am VERY proud of that fact in this "only business" world. Coaching could work out for him but ONLY if he has accepted his role as a player not playing and a coaching ONLY coaching.

Salute the nation

I hope they retain him at some level in the organization. Perhaps as an assistant linebacker coach. But not everyone who plays is a coach.

from what i understood, he still strives to play..it drives him and it motivates him. If he becomes a coach, there are real problems under the rules for him coming back and playing one day. The Steelers have done everything to let him pursue his dream. Hats off to them for taking care of their players. Hats of to Ryan for his recovery, drive and determination....truly inspiring. It is just going to come down to a conversation between Ryan and the team. It would not shock me to see him signed at a vet minimum and IR'ed immediately. He keeps access to health care and the facilities and lets him continue his journey. Its what i would do if it can be done.

To what MP said about teams not caring...for anyone who has never been through a labor negotiation at a company not named the NFL...let me offer this, take what is said by individual employees on the "labor" side of the equation with a grain of salt. A ton of posturing goes on and they are more free to speak their minds than the Corp Execs. Ignore the day to day comments - i guarantee the Execs do. When it is done, it will be done and everyone goes back to work.

I've never fully understood the concept of his tolled contract but my understanding is that they cannot do that again
.Whatever it means.

Shazier won't play again. He had a picture less than a week ago on his Instagram feed when he was on a cruise or something with his family and he was wearing a brace on his leg just to walk around. He's an inspiration and can keep trying but, realistically, he will never get on the field again.

We're all a bunch women gossiping at the fence post. None of us understand what is happening in the locker room, the front office, or in Shazier's doctor's office. We aren't privy to the conversations that he's having in regards to the path he's wanting to take and the one his Wife wants him to take. The only thing that we can do is wish him nothing but the best in whatever path he ultimately takes.
