Tomlin should have been told to get the defense respectable this year or there will be no extension after next season. They obviously have a hard time picking talent and this zone defense is so horific it is unbelievable. They will literally need to score every series against the Pats if Brady plays. This **** is inexcusable.

Can't fire the Rooney rule coach

They had literally nothing today on defense. They would have given up 27 to a decent college team.

I am 48 years old and slowly breaking down, but I think I could get open on this defense. They don't cover anyone. This is were Tomlin deserves to be ripped. I don't care if they win or not, but for **** sake, let them be aggressive. Challenge a receiver. It is pathetic. You are losing 43-19, and the Bills haven't thrown but one pass over about 8 yards since the first quarter. Maybe if you actually get up on a receiver, you can make a play. What, if you challenge them but get beat deep, you'd be losing 50-19? What the **** is the difference?

No L:eBeau to cover his dumb ***, long season ahead but hey he got his home boy Mike Vick who Tomlin says has an incredible arm, idiot.
STFU dude. Mike Vick came in on three days and not only outplayed the backup but was better than almost every individual defensive player.

You cannot play zone in the NFL without a huge front four pass rush. What on earth made them believe they even had a decent front 4.

Well it was a pretty good play when he hit Bryant on the second series. He had them inside the ten twice. If they could run on the goal line they would have scored 14. Bell embarrassed himself on the goaline with a ridiculously selfish penalty.

I heard that the sky was falling... and we all are going to die from radiation fallout and they aren't going to make beer anymore. I say we panic and run amok

No knee jerk reactions over pre season games. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things. No injuries is the main objective.

Our Defense just made a team with no starting QB look like all stars

The defense was flat out terrible. All four of the Bills QB's ripped it. I almost wanted to offer them Landry Jones for a few reps if only to see if our defense was that bad, or the Bills QB are all that good.

And pushing out Lebeau? Butler's cover 2 is swiss cheese. I agree. Both Tomlin and Colbert's contract was up in 2016. There was no need for an extension. NONE.

Timmons will be back in the middle, that will help and Tuitt but yeah the S's blew chunks..............

Worst performance from a Steelers defense I've seen in years. Pre-season or not.

1'st team, 2'nd team, 3'rd team defense. They all stunk against a Bills team without their starting RB's and Receivers and against the likes of EJ Manual maybe the worst starting QB in the NFL, Matt Casells a journeyman, Tyrod whoever the hell and Sims who won't even make the team. Pitiful!

I cannot name one defensive player that shined in this game for the Steelers.

Swiss cheese secondary and no pass rush. Same old song and dance.

The opener against the Pats** is gonna be ugly.

Doesn't matter that it is preseason, that performance was very concerning. The starting unit allowed big plays and we saw that there isn't much (if anything behind them) in terms of depth. Had hoped the defense would show progress as the preseason moved forward, not regression.

Don't panic Jarvis is going to be a star he led the sec in sacks and fooled everyone except the genius tombert with his poor workout

Forget about Brady on opening night. I'd be concerned with Jimmy G who is taking over for Brady and has looked pretty good this pre-season. With no pass rush once again the secondary will be exposed even to the Pats replacement QB. Our offense without Pouncey, Bell and now Bryant is not the same by any stretch. The running game suffers without Pouncey who first of all can pull and also get to the 2'nd level and block neither of which Wallace can do. Williams will be an adequate sub for Bell but not close to being what Bell is. Bryant, man forget about it! You take the deep threat away and now the Pats can swing over help against Brown. Wheaton won't scare anyone as the #2 guy and Coates is not ready yet to be the slot guy. Oh, I forgot, we have the DHB. Great! Hands of Stone.

That keeps being said, and it is true, but a bigger problem is that QBs are taking 3 or 5 step drops and getting rid of the ball. It is hard to pressure that, even if you had JJ Watt. Everybody knows they will not challenge receivers, so it is easy pitch and catch before the rush can become a factor.

I agree one hundred percent. We made average to below average QB's look like Tommy boy. Same old same old on defense. I saw so many cushions on 3rd down. All they do is run to the marker and turn around. I guess they just don't want to get burned deep. "Death by a thousand cuts" defense is here to stay I guess.

You just don't know what the **** you are talking about. If you are going to gripe, at least gripe about the right thing. For **** sake, even some of the best pass rushers wouldn't get pressure as fast as the QBs are releasing the ball.

Vick had one nice pass and then nothing, ALL the Bills QBs outplayed the dumb thug, bad signing, bad guy, bad QB and a head coach that is too stupid to ever develop a backup QB in his 9 years here.

Must be in the Pittsburgh water...Cowher had the same problem.
