I'm a tad disappointed with the coverage being too Quarterback heavy, and the positions we need ( ILB and safety ) looking mediocre as a group on the field though safety Kyzir White had and TE Troy Fumagalli had good days. Keep an eye on them to see if they can do it again

The interior line is full of good guard and centers, though we don't have a significant need here, its good for us if they go off the board early. As many as 4 QB's and 3 Interior OL players could be off the board before we select.

The focus is on the QBs. Mayfield, or Allen? Okay, I'll bite even though we won't pick a QB in round one.

Allen to me has the mental makeup and physical skills to be exceptional, but will he become accurate enough? A huge gamble, boom or bust type. The team that picks him better have good WR's and TE's with big catch radius, as his passes are not exactly on the money but he'll make a defense defend the entire field and can get it there through zones or tight windows.

Mayfield measured out okay. He's a shade over 6 feet tall, compactly built ( Meaning he's not fragile ) and had decent sized hands. But being short with sort arms and a low release point could be trouble. His arm is good enough for the short to medium range, but it's below average on deep outs, and not strong enough to squeeze through tight window vs. NFL DB's. If Mayfield gambles in these areas, he'll be picked more than his coach would like. The best fit for him is a dome or Denver like a high altitude team that features a rhythm passing game or West Coast like offense.

Meanwhile Rosen who not at the senior bowl looks like Peyton Manning at times. Such a talent. Okay, he could be a real Richard to teammates. So is Rodgers, and some say Ben. The question with Rosen is can he stay healthy. He hinted he won't play for the Browns. The Giants might take him #2 overall

If the Steelers want to take a shot at a mid round QB, I do like Rudolph.

I take it back. The psu tight end was the best by far. Tall quick and with fine hands.

Just go to the Depot and read their coverage of the practices if you want more Steelers specific coverage.

Penn State TE Mike Gesicki is a tremendous athlete and he's 6'5. Pure receiver who sucks at blocking. I'd compare him to Jimmy Graham. I have a feeling hi will go mid first round, but if he's available at the steelers pick, he may be a consideration. Not that it's a need but when picking late in the round, you can't always get a need and Gesicki would definitely be a best player available.

Gesicki doesn't suck at blocking. He's no Heath Miller but he is probably average for the TE's coming out of college. He needs some work there but he is a strong, tremendous athlete that can catch just about anything thrown near him. I'd take him in a heart beat.

I agree. I've seen him play a bit in games, but man did he make the safeties look bad at the senior bowl practice. He's tall, agile. and with a fine pair of hands. The announcer said he was a great basketball player and won the slam dunk championship from New Jersey, so you'd better believe he could jump.

Gesicki does not have a big body, so he's not going to add much as a blocker, but I say so what. As a receiving option, if he runs under 4.6, he's a first-round pick in my eyes.

Penn State’s Mike Gesicki is still a little light at 242 pounds for a 6’5 frame but possesses great length (34 arms) and big hands (10 1/8).

Okay, if the Steelers want to bring Vance McDonald back, he's going to cost a few million. I'm warming up to Gesicki, he's the type to cure red zone blues, and with our talent at WR and RB, could rip zones or man coverage over the middle big time and be a killer on play action, which we should see more of now that Tequila Todd is gone. Gesicki in round one pick for Steelers? How about a definite maybe for now. Let's see what he does in the game, and how he works out. I'd rather have a top ILB or safety but the vale has to be right.

I also take back what I said about safety Kyzir White. He's not the star I was looking for. Armani Watts looks good, not great. None of the safeties wow me. A disappointment.

Alex Cappa, the OT from Humboldt State ( never heard of that school ) impressed me. He's the guy with the long hair and nasty attitude. Dude is built like a cement mixing truck. Very strong and aggressive with surpassingly good hand usage! I guess if you look like a super sized Chumlee ( Vegas pawn stars ) you be angry at the world to. Love what I saw!

I think he'd make a fine right tackle, or guard in the NFL. Not that we need one, but if he's on the board in round five, I'd take him as a best player available pick. Maybe even in round three as long as a safety and ILB has been selected. I think he's show enough be a 2nd to 3rd round pick, which is pretty impressive.

I think this is down year for overall talent at the senior bowl. Not too many guys are jumping out in practices like they have in the past.

We need an ILB in the first. Period the end.

Need, yes. Will one be worth the pick? That is a different question. I was not blown away by any ILB at the senior bowl. Right now Roquan Smith and Tremaine Edmunds are the ILB with a first round grades. The odds for either lasing until the 28th pick are below 50/50

I do like Rashaan Evans, but he could be more of a second round talent.

Penn State had two guys I liked.

1. Safety Marcus Allen

2 ) Tight End Mike Gesicki

I'll take either in round two.

This could be a good year to trade down. Let's hope Lamar Jackson is still on the board and someone wants him!
