The Steelers will travel to New Jersey on Thursday to prepare to play their first preseason game against the Giants on Friday night. Hopefully they are taking plenty of trainers tape and Band-Aids because they are banged and battered all over the field.

The starting secondary is particularly banged up with Artie Burns, and Mike Mitchell out. Mitchell was hurt on the first day of camp and hasn't practiced since then. Burns had deemed himself close to returning but still hasn't practiced with the team as of Wednesday. Burns has at least been jogging and working out on his own so it doesn't appear his injury is too serious.

Gives them a up close look at depth. And thankfully this year they seem to have a decent amount of it.

But yeah hopefully nothing too serious with any of them.....

Secondary still a big question even if all players are here.

As is the pass rush. It ill be a work in progress, but I think the team will improve in these areas this year. Hopefully sooner than later.

I seen the same **** in HS. Some players, mostly of a certain mindset, are not above doggin' a little in the heat of summer practice. Some injuries have a way of healing in the cooler sheds on the shore of the Monongahela River......jus sayin'.

Makes you wonder. Some players never seem to miss so much as a practice. I think just chalking it up to lucky or not is over simplified.

The pass rush is good. Remember Heyward got hurt early with a season ending injury.

Heyward, Dupree, Tuitt, and Harrison/Watt are going to have a lot of sacks as a group. Maybe we don't have a 10+ sack guy, but as a group, we should do well. Shazier and Davis are good surprise blitz options from the ILB and S positions.

It's the secondary, this soft zone crap, and only having one solid man coverage person outside the hash marks ( Burns ) that hurt us. Rookie Sutton needs to be solid in the slot.
Cockrell at his point is what he is, and we need Sean Davis to make more plays on the ball.

Can't imagine NY NFL fans like to call East Rutherford, NJ home.

A slow start this year in the regular season could derail our deep playoff hopes. It's not like Tomlin has a great track record of coaching up the beginning of seasons. All these ticky tack injuries during training camp seem to effect us more than others.

Granted, I've liked the way we often finish seasons and other than Tomlin's first season we seem stronger than the average team come December, but stumbling through September and October is getting old hat around here....

I think they ought to steal Br*dy's retirement thunder and go 16-0 and then sweep the playoffs into the SB.

Do what Cheat couldn't.

I can dream.
