Sean Smith DUI

Better be three. As mentioned in the article, it's mandatory 2, but can be given more if there are "aggravating circumstances like property damage"
Well...here we are

not the same as Bell

Bell received one game for the marijuana possession and two for the DUI

It's funny how everyone dumps on Santonio for getting caught with a blunt and the team and fans run him out of town on a rail for a 5th rd pick, but Bell gets a pass for doing something 10X worse

Then what is the EXTRA game check that Bell is forking over for? A DUI is a DUI, Bell got his possession charges reduced and will get dropped completely when he completes his program. And Santonio had more going with him than weed, no one ran him out for a 5th round pick. It was also Santonio's SECOND violation, and his attitude showed no sign of remorse, no sign of changing how he was living his life. They traded him for what they could get. The fans might have been upset over ONLY getting a 5th round pick, but this ran him out of town is just as bad as you trying to call people out on right here.

I'm just saying he was made an example of - and his actions weren't all bad like some try to make it seem

Holmes was busted with the blunt in '08. He was ran out of town in '10 because he beat on a chick in a nightclub, then told somebody on twitter to kill themselves and then made the infamous "time to wake n bake" post.

The other key for stonio and this was a big one 2nd offense with no sign of changing. Next offense is a third and gone for the season. Seemed like a smart move at the time to be able to get something for him. Had he picked up a third he would have been gone for the season and with out the trade the steelers would get nothing for him as they were going to cut him. I would not be surprised if the trade actually helped him a bit to at least avoid getting arrested again.

yeah - but it still wasn't a DUI arrest like Bell - that's why he's getting punished with 3 games

Santonio did nothing wrong as a reason to be pulled over, just bad luck he was stoppped

WPXI-TV's website in Pittsburgh reports: "Police cited Steelers receiver Santonio Holmes on charges of marijuana possession Thursday afternoon. Pittsburgh police said Holmes was driving a SUV with out-of-state license plates near Mellon Arena. The vehicle matched the description of one linked to a crime, so officers made an investigatory stop.

'When they pulled him over, they found there was a smell of burnt marijuana in the vehicle,' said Sgt. James Vogel. 'Mr. Holmes was very cooperative with officers and turned over some items to us and was subsequently summoned for those items...a couple of marijuana blunts.' Holmes was given a summons to court and released.

Holmes was charged with "one misdemeanor count of possession of a small amount of marijuana" and released, but Sgt. James Vogel of the Pittsburgh PD wants to make it clear that Holmes was a perfect gentleman during the whole ordeal. He handed over the blunts politely and without incident, and if the NFL has a problem with that they can take it up with Sgt. Vogel.

"Holmes was very cooperative, respectful and wasn’t impaired. He thinks that should be taken into account when it comes to any potential action taken against him by the Steelers and the NFL. “We wouldn't expect a steelworker to be laid off or suspended without pay,” said Vogel. “I wouldn't expect a police officer, firefighter or a member of the Steelers.”

Surprise, surprise, surprise, suspended or fired for conduct unbecoming an officer, that is one of the first things that can be dropped on you when you put on the uniform. It does not happen all the time and the variables involved make rodger look like a model of consistency but what stonio did could cost a police officer or fireman his job.

So you defend Santonio and condemn Bell because Bell was charged with the DUI and Santonio wasn't. From the article you posted, he was driving, there were burned blunts in the car, with the smell of marijuana from inside the vehicle. Are you telling me that Santonio wasn't smoking them with his passengers? What did Bell do wrong exactly that got him pulled over? Oh the officer saw smoke coming from the vehicle...damn reckless driving. Looks like the same crime, just different officers writing the citations.

Le’Veon Bell says he apologized to team for weed arrest

Le'Veon Bell

Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was dumb-but-honest when he was pulled over by cops this summer and admitted to smoking marijuana then driving, on the way to catch a team flight to a preseason game.

But he said he’s learned from the experience (which means he’ll either stop smoking weed and driving or telling the truth).

“It’s a mistake that obviously can’t do it again,” Bell said, via Scott Brown of ESPN.com. “It’s something I definitely regret doing but I apologized to my teammates for it.”

Bell waived a preliminary hearing yesterday, which allows for his case to go to trial or for him to enter a plea, with his next hearing in December.

That likely stalls any league punishment until next year, as he hopes to enter a first-offender program that could get the charges dismissed.

On the field, he’s been excellent this year, second in the league in rushing. He needs to be, especially at a time when coach Mike Tomlin is ripping players left and right after last week’s loss to the Browns.

“It definitely caught our attention,” Bell said. “When guys are called out, you have to respond, and all Coach Tomlin wants for guys to do is to respond. I know I’m going to respond and I’m pretty sure everybody in this locker room has the same mindset, and we understand we can’t have another embarrassing loss like that.”

Or embarrassing arrests on the way to the airport.

Doesn't sound like Bell gave any resistance and was also cooperative with the officers.

So Bell's first offense, Santonio's second offense mixed with other questionable behavior and social media posts... yeah, seems pretty even to me

I'm not condemming Bell for anything - he got caught breaking the law and will pay for it - just don't try and make him into a saint and expect the league to cut him a break for anything

Santonio said the blunts weren't his - can you prove they were?

Fair?

hahahahahhaha

Life isn't fair, don't act so outraged when the world doesn't give you want you want.

I didn't say fair, I said even...which is what you are trying to imply. Bell could have denied they were his, but he was honest and said they weren't.

I'm not implying anything - don't try to read my mind

No, they weren't equal events - one was a moving violation of an impaired, drugged driver and the other was a mistaken vehicle identification traffic stop.

I contend that if it wasn't Bell, our star RB, that is being suspended, over half this board would want him cut immediately for being a doper....so just admit it.

Spin spin spin

Stonio was on his second offense not his first. And was our star wide out at the time. I would consider him just as important to the team then as Bell is now or so close it makes little difference. The thing that does make a difference is first time or second time. I suspect that if Bell gets hit with a second offense the guys that want to put him on the out of town bus will be lined up ready to carry his luggage outa here as well.

.......Lets look at it another way, the "rog" is a dirt bag all the way around. This POST, got high jacked. The Germans, only partially bombed pearl harbor. Mendenhal has become the "Lord of the TWO towers".
........Are we as Steeler Nation fans, just going to sit here, behind our measly computer screens and sit idally. **** (for you Omar) NO. We are going to RAIL the first, Non-starting, not likely to make the team, @SShole, who gets DUI, then another offensive something, spreads nudes of Art II on the net, with tweets of "Ben's " new DTF mistress. This pour FLUCKING kid is going to spread sparks, faster than Rashard could spin.
.......So, in looking back at the arguments here, thre will be no comparison as to the RAIL / Town? Exit, this kid will face. and to think, all it took was for "spike" to get the show going. Thank you gentlemen, in advance, for setteling the next punishment, of the failur, before it begins.

Salute the nation
