From Tom Pelissero Twitter and multiple outlets. “ Sources: The #Lions and Matthew Stafford have mutually agreed to part ways this offseason and the team will begin exploring trade options in the coming weeks for their star QB.”

Cue the he would look in black and gold comments.

no to many turn overs

What it would take and no it’s not going to happen IMO.

I don't ever want to sign this generation's Vinnie Testaverde...

I don't see BEN being "jettisoned" in any scenerio. Ben may chose to retire but I'm thinking he plays one more year in the revamped offense and just might get lucky enough to come away respectively from the season.

As for Mathew, I've seen enough of his play from a distance and hope to NOT see it up close.

Salute the nation

I look at that organization as they sucked so bad they caused two players to retire early. Some will debate one of them but that had to come into play with their early exit plans. So for me the guy did well at times despite that. Anddd to top it off I remember a certain Green by the bay QB that clearly curtailed his interceptions with one head coach. Hell we seen the difference with Ben with different coordinators. I think if he goes to the right team he thrives.

If Ben retires this year, the only veteran I would want is Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Talking about an interception waiting to happen. I do like the guy as a backup. But he is just a temporary filler IMO.

I could see Patriots going after him. I just don't see a team giving up a 1st round pick for him. and now that it's out there it might not even be a 2nd rounder.

Pre 1970’s Steelers always chased older aging stars and won jack **** with them. Stafford isnt even a star per se....

Take your shot in the draft if ben is done... there are probably seven guys who have some chance at being a franchise qb coming out this year... some of the ones with more questions may be third or 4th round picks... if you are looking for bens successor and dont think its Rudolph or just want more competition, sign a tackle in free agency and blow a top 3 round pick on a qb...

he would be perfect in Indy. Good team, takes over from Rivers and still has 2 or 3 years left in him to possibly win a SB. He needs a team right on the cusp and I think Indy may be that team. Denver or Dallas(if they don't sign Dax) could be possibilities, too.

Stafford is a good QB but not a guy who is going to elevate a team. He definitely needs a ready made team already in place.

It said his base salary was only like 9.5 mil in 2021 and 12.5 in 2022. That seems very cheap. I think its close as to whether he is better than the 2nd half Ben or not. Regardless he would be a good stop gap.

people throw around sam darnold, Carson Wentz.. etc.. Hell, Staffords qbr was better than bens this year .

Dont forget what Gannon did at the end of his career with the raiders.

And like that, the only player from the 2009 with even a chance to be considered for the HOF is Alex Mack.

Worst....Draft....Ever.....

Ziggy played a long time. It wasn't bad for him.
