And some more housekeeping. Pretty impressive.

work that magic baby!

To me, this sends a signal that the new OC will be bringing back the Power I. If that is the case, they should let Bell walk if they can not get a cap friendly deal done. We have a good OL with a great blocking TE in McDonald. I say make the Power I a staple, use more RB screens and Playaction passing. Use the money saved on Bell and make the defense great. I think that backs like Connor and Ridley will flourish in a Power I type scheme.

Well no one is bringing back the Power I. Rosie is a good special teamer and can block. Im sure he didnt get much because there is very little market for a player like that.

You don't know that. What is wrong with the Power I?

Its great. In youth. In highschool. Maybe in some college systems. And I have always believed that football is trends. Maybe someone could resurrect it against the undersized fast LBs they are churning out. But with a franchise qb, best wr in the league and two or three other big time receiving threats its not going to happen. If it does it will be by a team with a monster defense, a big OL no qb and no weapons at receiver.

Glad we signed him and Like said I bet for cheap. Our new OC will utilize him better than the old one did. Might even have him in the backfield on 3rd & short.............. Imagine that.

Thanks for posting Ike.!!

if you let Bell go who's gonna benefit from those RB screen passes? Bell has great hands, Conner not so much

Well, now he has his pocket fulla posie, need to get a ring around that rosie...'s finger. Rosie's finger. Superbowl ring.

Just a tidbit i found about fullback usage-

-James Develin(*'s) 200 snaps played are the most of any player in the league listed as a fullback.

-The *ts have used two-back sets on 36.2 percent of their plays this season, the highest total in the NFL. They are the only team above 30 percent; the league average is 13.5 percent.

Maybe our OC can work on some more packages with Nix and Bell. Defenses would have to stay in base personnel, but then if you motion Bell out then he's that much more at a mismatch vs whomever is covering him. If they try to move to nickle then you have 7 blockers on the front 6 and i like our chances with Bell. We def should be studying how Develin was used all season cause Bell is a worlds better back than Dion Lewis.

Bettis, caught a ton of screens and punished defenses. We are talking about a screen...Pre Tomlin we used the RB screen a lot. RB screen with blockers waiting to mow down the traffic. Connor and Ridley or any good hard running back could fill this role..

If yinz go back to when Randy coached as a OC in college his system was spread offenses. Which quickly emerged to top ten in yards/scoring. You can run the no huddle out of that as well. Hopefully the red zone efficiency will rebound as last year that 50% efficiency was the lowest of Haley's career. In your contract year, bad timing for a drop off. And let us be honest Randy will have a lot more at his disposal than when he was in college. I think the Steelers will be top five in a lot of categories on O. On D let us wait and see what transpires in free agency and the draft.

If the Steelers can manage to bring in two solid additions on D (FS AND ILBer) You could widen that BPA draft. Instead of narrowing the top choices. As in 1 to land a ILBer or FS value that might require a trade up or down situation.

Bettis had 200 catches in 13 years. Yep he caught tons and tons of screens.

shows they are opening as much to lock bell, if ben extends his del by 2 years how much can that open up more?

Thanks for the fact check. He may not have caught tons, but the ones he did catch were electrifying. Running free with two big uglys leading the way. **** like that sets the tone for players on both sides of the ball. Steeler Football. Bell is our first Marshall Faulk type RB. People are enamored with the idea of having a do everything type back. We dont "NEED" that in Pittsburgh. Not with that pricetag..

Pretty simple math. 5 lineman. 3 in the backfield 2 wr. Now you lose A TE or a slot. I think JuJu will play a hell of a slot. So its Rosie or a TE. I like like Nix. A lot. But the TE gives you a hell of a lot more flexibility.

Mortgaging the TEAM for one player. I hope we don't end up in that predicament. If we do sign him I hope it's TEAM first and not the other way around.
