By: Jonathan Clark SteelerNation.com   Throughout the past couple of off-seasons, if you were to ask Ben Roethlisberger if he sees himself playing many more years past the 2019 season, his answer would be something along the lines of “I am just taking it one year at a time”. Disappointing for us Steeler fans to […]

AR2 said the cap will be much lower if there's no attendance in the SNR interview I heard today. They must extend.

Which would be the wildcard to flip their dire straits around. The money isn't for nothing and the chicks aren't free.

I like how he (ArtDuce) said provided he is playing up to par. I do see a must extend on the cap hit but I also see Roethlisberger fully capable of playing a couple more years as well. Rudolf better be real though because hitching the wagon to an aging QB may need a spell or two along the way.

Totally disagree. Just another remortgage. It doesn't work in the everyday world and it doesn't work here. He is not going to play for less. Maybe less next year but he will still be on the books then. You will have to lose Juju you might have to lose Heyward. Get yourself in cap control and you will be fine after Ben is gone.

when they restructured Ben last time, I assumed the had some form of plan. Covid has ****** up everyone's plans. My guess is the owners and NFLPA will do some sort of deal at end of season when the revenue is understood. Cap going down is bad for both NFLPA and Teams. they will something.

That said...yea...at some point you have to eat the Franchise salary hit. Team knows that.

In my opinion you have to start to look at who are cornerstones to rebuild post Ben. Watt and Fitzpatrick. Even Heyward might be too old. Young cheap receiving Corp. Let Juju walk. Get done with Ben rebuild. Unless Tomlin produces a championship this year he shouldn't be part of the equation.

I'd hate to see him play elsewhere but if he were to come back, he would have to take a significant discount. No way we can pay him top 10 money. Maybe somewhere in the middle of the pack would get us under the cap.

Already some talk of making Heyward a priority regardless of this or next year pre- free agency. I don't think they will have to break the bank to resign Conner and Juju. I still see this team manipulating the cap to sign most of not all of who they want to keep. Free agency and the draft will fill the rest.

No matter what happens, Ben can't have a 41 million cap hit next year, even though he's great this year, so the Steelers will have to find a way, maybe do what the Saints have been doing with Drew Brees in the last few years with the voided year and stuff like that.

The Saints have like 70 million over the cap for the 2021 season if the salary cap is at 175 million and it's about the same for the eagles, so I have no idea how his teams will do for just be below of the cap and have an NFL caliber team!

I see us finding a way but also realize harsh reality is at hand. Our CAP manipulator has done wonders. There is no way you can be planned for this pandemic. Who thought LAST YEAR lets plan for pandemic this year, absolutely NO ONE. They looked pretty good "CAP" wise last year and in tune with what was coming their way, player wise. Will there be a tough cut, yes but we will survive..............

Get fans in the stands! Isn’t there suppose to be a vaccine for early November, pack the stands for the last quarter of the season/playoffs. That should help some.

Any cap loss would be spread over 5 to 10 years. If Ben has a healthy and good year, I could see him extended another 2 years. He has potentially the best WR
core in Steelers history. I can't remember ever having 4 starter quality receivers. So he has tools to produce results.
