Although no guarantees were made, there’s great optimism across the organization that fans will be in the stands starting in October. Rooney does admit that it will ultimately be up to the Pennsylvania governors office.

So the odds aren't high.

I'm not sure of how it will affect the team and their play. In the PAST many a player has said the fans fuel their fire at times durring the game. With no fans there (artificial fan noise isn't the same) how will the players get that extra boost.

What about playing at stadiums that are allowing fans, albeit on a limited basis but won't that give an unfair COMPETATIVE advantage between the two?

The point I'm making is if one team can't have fans should all the rest not be able to have fans as well...?

Without the fans, using artificial noise would be a HUGE help to the Steelers in the 1st half of the 3rd quarter. Normally the seats are over half empty.

A friend of mine made a point that I found interesting. Without fans, this season may give us insight into whether home field advantage is more about the fans or more about the home team having the benefit of no travel and being able to have a normal routine at a familiar place.

Very good observation.
