Mike Tomlin has reportedly been telling Steelers players for years that he’ll tolerate wide receiver Antonio Brown only so long as he’s playing at an All-Pro level.

A new report from ESPN says that Tomlin was sick and tired of Brown’s chronic tardiness, and told other players it would be addressed — just as soon as Brown stopped playing like one of the best wide receivers in football.
“[Tomlin] essentially told the group, we’ll tolerate it now because of what he brings on the field, but the minute production stops, you don’t overlook it,” one unnamed ex-Steeler said.

If that’s the case, it was foolish of the Steelers to give Brown the four-year, $68 million extension he got two years ago. If the Steelers were already preparing for a time when Brown became more trouble than he was worth, they shouldn’t have given him a big new deal that made him more expensive — and harder to move on from once they decided they couldn’t take it anymore.

But ESPN says it has confirmed with nearly 20 current or former Steelers that it’s been an ongoing problem with Brown, and that the team always knew it wasn’t going to last long.

“This has been brewing for years,” one ex-teammate said. “It’s just now coming to the surface. And it’s probably over.”

Brown’s production is still quite good — he had 104 catches for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns in 15 games last season — but it now appears that even at the level he’s producing, the Steelers have had enough.

^^^ Trade the Diva if you can get value for him.

15 TDs? So he's still playing at an All Pro level so i guess he's staying, obviously

Good to hear

I a so tired of hearing about AB. Just like Bell last year. Football is the ultimate team sport, We need players that want to be here and be part of a team.

I wish someone with enough balls would come out and say something. Enough former and current players bull crap or unnamed sources. So far Ryan Clark is the only person with a set to say anything. I’m honestly over the whole thing.

Also out of everyone I’ve been in favor of not firing Tomlin because I didn’t think it was the right move. I felt everyone was looking for an escape goat. Clearly now we are in this position because of what he’s allowed and never took care of from the beginning. He fostered the environment as being a “players” coach. Personally I wouldn’t be upset to see Tomlin gone and trade AB at this point. Also, Colbert isn’t absolved either. It’s also a shame that all of this is happening towards the end of Ben’s career.

Another bullshit article "reportedly" saying things with no actual proof. So sick of this type of reporting in all areas!!! Just the facts mam. **** all the innuendo and gossip.

If that’s even remotely close to accurate, that is very damaging to Tomlin’s credibility and it is mind blowing that AR2 would overlook that. There is no way to foster a culture of winning in a total team setting when favoritism is so clearly and blatantly displayed!!! It breads contempt that will linger n fester as long as even just 1 player exists in the locker room that saw the behavior without being a beneficiary!

If that's true then Tomlin is worse than incompetent. That's an extremely immature approach to leadership.

How ******* sad is it how often we have to start a post about so called news stories with “if that’s true” wether it is sports or politics. Their is no such thing as journalistic integrity anymore.

Who knows if it’s true but if it is that’s the very worst message a coach can send to his team.
Idk, I don’t take a lot of stock in some of these sources out there and there are plenty of them, but just hope it’s not true.

PFT is a RUMOR MILL

Not reporting, just like the sign says, lol

To bad Mr. Rooney does not see how under Tomlin the lack of discipline, lack of commitment and circus atmosphere the Steelers have become.

JFC...context matters when quoting.
