You got JuJu, whom I love but truthfully, I just don't see him as a #1. I would consider him one of the best #2s in the game, but a #1? I just can't get there.

You got Washington who seems to have all this potential, but doesn't "potential" just piss you off? I wanna see James Washington frickin EXPLODE!

Now Chase Claypool enters the scene. The first thing I notice off the bat is we have 3 WRs who are a bit bigger, a bit lankier and I admit the very first thing that crosses my mind is... "But are any of them really deep threats?" (Yes, I know Claypool ran a 4.42. I know Washington has a knack for deep balls. I know JuJu has shown in the past he's got freaky good game speed.) But none of them scream to me... "He's a home-run threat!"

What I LIKE is that they are all some big-*** motherfuckas. They seem big, actually pretty fast, all things considered and when you have 3 guys that can take a ball over the middle, take that shot and get up, well that gives you some options.

I watched Claypool's college highlight reel and while it was nice, I wasn't blown away. It's not like he just dominated over DBs or anything. But he does make tough catches, takes some good hits and clearly he's a fighter who will work for an extra few yards.

I guess I find it interesting that we are transitioning from a guy like AB who forces teams to account for him and that opens up other guys accordingly, to a situation where you have three "bruisers" that can just make some in-traffic catches and create a passing game "ground n pound" kinda vibe. And if Washington decides to kick it up a notch or two, you better watch out for him sneaking out for the deep throw which he has shown can be his money-play. (Dude makes some nice deep catches now and then.)

Man I hope this is a physically dominating WR corps that just pounds the crap out of opposing defenses. I really do.

Wig, you left Deonte Johnson off that list. True he is not a bruiser but he is that receiver that, as the tail end of last year, is showing he will command / draw coverage away from someone else. JuJu will excell in that pool.

No one is going to come in and imeadiately replace little chest BUT they don't need to, they just need to command more coverage and the rest of the guys will suck up the production.

You're right. Not sure how I left out Dionte Johnson. He IS a guy with a very dynamic upside. I do hope he also has a monster season. (Technically I hope they ALL break 3000 yards and 20 TDs.)

They have more talent then the ball can go around to frankly. The addition of Claypool probably means they are letting Juju walk. Essentially they would have Claypool, Washington and Johnson on the cheap for 2021.

I hate the #1 WR debate.

I mean — who cares? 2005 Hines Ward had his least productive season since 2000 with Randel-El. Wasn’t much of a problem. 2008 — a bunch of “experts” rambled on about how much better the Cardinals WRs were than Steelers; who was our #1? Holmes made plays. Ward was never a big stat guy... but never heard anything about his not being able to stretch the field or whatever.

JuJu has talent. I’m betting that one of our “unknown quantities” of Washington, Johnson, Claypool will be fine. Especially with Ben back

This!!!!

Everyone puts too much emphasis on who is going to be the number 1 WR. It won’t hurt my feelings if they ALL, McDonald and Ebron included, put up solid #2 and #3 numbers. If we can consistently field 2 #2 WR & 3 #3 WR’s, they win going away.

The only concern we should have about our WRs is if they can get open and catch the ball from Ben. If they can do that, we will be fine.

The collection of WRs we have is very talented right now. We also have two TEs, who if they stay healthy and can also catch the ball will be trouble for any defense in the middle of the field.

We do have some RBs who can catch the rock out of the backfield too. The offense should not be handicapped by QB play with Ben back on the field. Last year they were a liability and couldn't score multiple TDs in games. If we can average 20+ points a game, this team wins 10+ games with our defense and contends for a title.

Let me repeat that

All of them catch 100 balls and 1000 yards, and the New England Punter would still get The league MVP before Ben

Ben makes his receivers. The Steelers spent a #2, #2, #3, and #2 round draft pick on wide receivers. We also paid a lot of money for Ebron, who I think is over rated and not a god team guy.

Washington remains a tease. I didn't like the pack back then, and still say we could her done better now.

I think Claypool, who has the only real deep speed should be the #3 WR with Ju Ju and Johnson starting.

He hasn't played a down for the Steelers but he is overrated?

They didn't pay the farm for him it was a pretty friendly TE contract, so once again you are just spit-balling horseshit out of your mouth so that you can stamp negativity.

Not sure what he brings. The Steelers also have Deon Cain 6"2 202 lbs runs a 4:43. 2019 stats 9 receptions for 124 yards 13.8 avg between the Colts and Steelers. The little he played he seems more of a straight line deep ball kind of guy. They were just running him deep from the little I saw of him.

Cain has a nice back shoulder as well since his deep speed is respected.

Biggest thing they have protentional, we need playmakers, bulk or small and fast still need to make the plays to continue the drives. hope this receiver coach can actually develop any of the receivers we have.

Man with the potential of this receiving corps, Ben has to be like the fat kid taken to the all you can eat buffet at the Bellagio in Vegas! With all the big fast talent on this team going into this year, I think Dionte Johnson will have an awesome breakout season, if there is a season.

good thing coach is not the gm, that's not a lot of money for a starting TE
