Does it seem like the Ravens always get to play the Steelers when Ben is injured? You're not crazy, it has happened quite a bit. How often? Including this Thursday game, Ben will have missed nearly a third of his games vs the Ravens.

Sounds like that can't possibly be true right? Here's the stats.

Ben's rookie year, he did not start in the first game vs the Ravens. That's the game where Maddox got hurt and Ben came in to finish so i do not count that game. Ben has been the Steelers starting QB ever since, so all games after that are counted.

2004 1 game
2005 - 2014 = 10 years x 2 games = 20 games
3 Playoff games
1 game this Thursday

Add them up and that is 25 games vs the Ravens while Ben was the #1 QB for the Steelers. Of those 25, he has missed 7 (including both games in 2012).

7/25 = 28% missed

This is what bothers me so much about this rivalry with the Ravens. The Steelers very rarely are at full strength.

I know the Ravens have their injuries too, but never the same level of playmakers that the steelers are missing. This year is a good example. Ravens would say they are missing Suggs so that makes it even, but Suggs compared to Ben is not close to even.

You also subtract Pouncey, Shazier, and Martavis and we have yet another frustrating matchup against the Ravens where i have to watch their defense pound their chests by stopping a steeler offense at half power.

I don't think Flacco has ever missed a single game since hes been in Baltimore....dude is their Ironman.

The NFL Network guys were saying the same thing about Eli. He's an iron man while Big Ben seems to be fragile.

Just reading this makes my blood boil. I need to take a breather

I think I read that Tomlin is 10-9 vs. the Ravens. For how many of those 9 losses was Big Ben on the sideline? Anyone know? One of the wins came with Charlie Batch at the helm (in Baltimore actually).

Flacco and Harbaugh's reputation as consistent winners would be a bit different if they didn't get so many free passes...

Batch beat the Ravens and Dixon almost did. We are better offensively and worse defensively. They seem worse on both sides of the ball if not equal. Can Vick play better than Dixon or Chick with a better O and better skilled positions than he has ever had.

It's going to depend on our ability to play old school football. Run the ball, play field position, need to win the special teams battle and the turnover battle. Plus a couple explosive plays from the passing game...

Ben is far from fragile. But, apparently he's not "old enough" to get the protection afforded to other QBs. Defenses know they can knock him around and not get penalized like they would if the name on the jersey were Rodgers, Brady or Manning.

Two different guys with different styles. Ben has 379 rush attempts for 1161 yards on the ground and 15 TDs. Eli has 246 attempts for 493 yards and 5 TDs. Eli's only been sacked 283 times to Ben's 424. If Eli moved around as much as Ben, he probably would have been retired by now.

Eli also throws into the dirt quite often to avoid getting hit

To be fair, Rodgers doesn't get calls either and has had poor OL play for stretches in his career.

Maybe Marsha and Peyton pay the refs on the side or something. Lol. Being a conspiracy theorist right now

Gonna be soooo sweet if we beat them though.
