By: Brandon J. Wallace SteelerNation.com **   Arguably his best individual game as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, safety Terrell Edmunds had himself a game on Sunday against the now 1-9 Jacksonville Jaguars. Edmunds finished the contest with two solo tackles on top of his career-high, two interceptions. When asked about his takeaways during […]

Credit to Edmunds, he's played pretty well this year. I've been hard on him and he continues to shut me up this year. Well done.

He will give you those occasional coverage issues but overall I like what he is putting out this year.

Props to him for finally opening the floodgates on making splash plays/turnovers which was the biggest knock on him. I'd love to see him start playing a little more freely and creating even more splash

His second INT yesterday was a beauty. I was genuinely happy for him to have his work start to pay off.

Edmunds has been assignment sound this year. I have not seen him much in man coverage, and that's a good thing.

While he'll probably never be the type of player who produces a lot of passes defenses or interceptions, yesterday was the exception. IMO, he deserved a game ball. This was his best game as a pro.

We need Edmunds to stay healthy. Our " next man up " at safety won't be able to play to his level.

Most aren’t understanding Edmunds role in the defense now. Fitzpatrick did a 180... his 2 picks were the result of deep safety help.

Edmonds has been the primary DB playing in our classic cover 3 zone blitz—that’s why his tackles spiked up to over 100 last year. Now he’s covering a lot of ground depending on the game.

It’s not all about stats... Fitzpatrick’s goal line INT was a result of a tipped pass, which was the result of Edmunds blitz forcing a quick throw.

The Steelers need Edmunds in a big way — especially with loss of Bush. And especially in any potential match up vs. KC and the target of Kelce

Saw Sean Davis get some snaps yesterday. Edmunds and Minkah are definitely working in tandem like Troy and Clark did. They are being used in the more traditional sense and for them both to have 2 INT days is great for this defense. We're going to find ways to make team pays with this defense.

If you have the game available to re-watch, keep your eyes on Minkah. He spent a lot of the first 4-5 weeks as the single-deep, but over the past 5 games or so, Edmunds has played more single-deep and Minkah is hunting. On two throws, he was baiting Luton to throw to a receiver over the middle where he was 100% going to step right in front and pick it off.

The CB/S combination is extremely talented. Opponents have a combined passer rating against the Steelers of 71.8, by far the lowest (best) in the NFL. Steelers 15 interceptions and 38 sacks lead the NFL.

Look at the best teams in the league besides the Steelers. Kansas City, Packers, Buccaneers, Colts, Saints. Guess what they have in common? They can pass the ball, a lot, for tons of yardage. An elite pass defense is absolutely key to beating those teams.

Ask the Raiders.

If he has been assignment sound, then he has been in coverage. Especially in the nickel and dime packages. Usually to the TE.

One other thing, do you realize Edmunds is second on the team in PDs (7) behind Joe (9)? We have a deep group of DBs. Interchangeable and experienced. Davis, Hilton even Sutton all can pick up the slack if necessary. Still staying healthy is key.
