Bruce McNorton (ex-player and current Steeler scout) had his annual football clinic this week in Daytona Beach.

Bruce brought his crew to the club I play music at. That group included Ernie Mills, James Jones, John L. Williams and a few other ex-players (Megatron was at the clinic but didn't come to the club...bummer)

I had met Bruce a couple times and he is a super cool, nice cat. I actually have pics with him and he let me and my wife wear his Super Bowl rings (on my pinkie, lol).

I was outside when the crew walked up and instantly noticed Ernie Mills (that gap in his teeth, lol) so I said hi and yapped at him for a minute...again, super nice, personable dude. I told him I always loved his playstyle and that he had lots of heart and toughness and the Steeler Nation still remembers him :smile-new:

Ernie and his wife told me they loved my guitar playing (you sure can strum that guitar!).

My drunk wife took pics but they didn't turn out...oh well. Fun night.

He must live down here,He was at an event two years ago a night before the Steelers/Dolphins game.
Glad you got to meet him
Was a big John L fan too

He's from Dunnellon and is currently a WR coach at FAMU...yeah. John L. is a nice, talkative dude too. He's massive for only 5'11".

Ernie was at a Steelers mafia event in Florida I went to a while back, so yeah I definitely think Florida is home to him...

I always thought Ernie was underrated. Remember the WR unit of Mills, Hastings, Kordell, Thigpen and CJ?

I'd take that group over the "Young Money" guys any day.

Just recently rewatched the AFC Championship Game from the 95 Super Bowl Season. Will never forget that massive catch he made to set up the winning TD that sent us to the big game. Always loved Mills.

The one Mill's grab was on 4th down; he misses that we don't make it to the show. I think.

I was at the game,my mantra all year was four more yards after missing he four yard TD the previous year against the Chargers.
It was 4th and 4 I believe

The toe-tap at the 1 inch line...yeah...beautiful.

Mills would be a star in today's NFL and Troy Edwards might have as well. Both were better talents than Edelman and a bunch of these slot guys in today's NFL who look like stars because they can't be touched and they don;t have to worry about getting laid out by a LB over the middle

Damn Guru, he lives in Dunnellon, works in Tallahassee but he drives all the way across the state to hear mightyguru strum his gee-tar....yeah !!

It's A-L-W-A-Y-S good to hear of these ex-players not being to big for the public. When they take the time to be "human" and share their experience along the way. I've encountered a few a different times in life and was impressed with most, ONE though was still living in his "high-lite" and wasn't very pleasant. On the flip side, Mark Malone helped keep me from being kicked out of a game for me being illeagaly on the sidelines. I'm just glad these guys share and hopefully remain an inspiration for those who need.

Salute the nation
