Quiz Time

Quarterbacks Jim Kelly, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino, all from the Pittsburgh area, all are Hall of Famers.
Name the one other QB, also a HOF’er, also from the Pittsburgh area…that often goes unmentioned with this group.
Clue: He played the “Slash” role.

George Blanda?

Not so sure about the "slash" part of it, though.
By golly you’re right.
He was QB/kicker.
I still think he holds the record for most points scored.

George Blanda played pro football for 26 seasons – longer than any other person. However, he’ll probably be remembered best for his 1970 season with the Oakland Raiders. That year, in a five-game period, George provided Oakland with four wins and one tie with last-second touchdown passes or field goals – at age 43.

The string started with a three-touchdown passing and one field goal outburst against Pittsburgh and continued with a 48-yard field goal with three seconds left to tie Kansas City. He threw a scoring pass and added a 52-yard field goal in the last 96 seconds to defeat Cleveland. Next came a winning touchdown toss against Denver and a last-instant field goal to upend San Diego.

During his career, Blanda accumulated impressive credentials. He passed for 236 touchdowns and scored an incredible 2,002 points. In 1970, he became the oldest quarterback to play in a title game.

Here is a trick question... how many QBS that ultimately were inducted into the HOF have the Steelers drafted, and name them...

Three, soon to be four. Terry Bradshaw, Johnny Unitas, and Len Dawson. Roethlisberger will soon join that group.

Steelers also passed on a very underrated and successful NFL QB in Earl Morral.

Nope... though you got 3... the problem is that the Steelers are far better at drafting HOF qbs than playing them🤣

I have no idea. Being a trick question probably has a lot to do with it!

Believe it or not..,

There was once a defensive tackle who played in the NFL by the name of Pittsburgh Cleveland Crosby.

Believe it or not?
FYI This is a trick question.
No cheating.

I got it wrong in Trivia years ago for just that reason...

Also ill give you all a hint... one of them is not Kordell Stewart... despite his promises...

I know who it is, but I kind of cheated so I won’t say yet.
I had guessed Sonny Jurgenson so I looked him up to confirm and he wasn’t it …that’s when I ran into the other guy.

Since no has taken a shot at it, it was Bobby Layne.
