By: G.Stryker SteelerNation.com Training camp is winding down, and the quarterbacks are performing nicely. The players: Ben Roethlisberger – may have bumped his head on Tuesday, but he’s still the head cheese in Pittsburgh. He will rest up and might even play next week in Pittsburgh. Landry Jones – is getting the game off. The […]

My thoughts are I like that only Dobbs and Rudolph are playing in this game.

The Steelers are not keeping 4 QB's. I sill hope the Steelers can trade either Dobbs or Jones for a draft pick.

I would prefer to see Rudolph start........

Me TOO !!! Let him run with the number 1s. I think he would progress way further than Dobbs in the same amount of time. If they just open him up just a little he may impress just enough to secure #3 and move to number two sooner than later. I know we should trade one of the two QBs, Jone's or Dobbs and maybe Dobbs shows enough to enhance the trade but if Rudolf shows enough then we may actually get something bigger for JONES. I know some here think this is a stretch and NEVER going to happen but I say never say never. If Rudolf can show then Jone's may be gone. If not I bet by mid season Rudolf is a clear #2 vs what Landry brings to the table. Always interesting to see what training camp and pre-season games can bring. GOOD. LUCK. TO. BOTH, regardless.

Salute the nation

Jones is not getting traded. He’s Ben’s eyes on the side line and Ben trusts what he says when the O is walking off the field from a possession.

I don't know Ike, If we can get a 3rd or 2nd for Jones, I take it. Teams do crazy things when they lose QBs and need to fill space quickly.

Rudolph getting the start. Hope he and Dobbs do well so we can bounce Jones.

Rough 1st half for Rudolph, minus the JuJu TD pass.

He will learn from it. Some of it was obviously nerves.

Not that he won't improve, but it does go to show you it isn't time to let Jones go just yet...........

I'm not worried about Rudolph AT ALL. The only way I would be worried is that if we needed him to start this year or next. It basically took him 3-4 years to really figure it out in college so it will be sometime before he looks like an NFL starting QB. Even with the full-time coaching in the NFL and lots of reps, it is just going to be a while. My guess is about 3 years or about when Ben really hangs it up.

It's the same for Dobbs. It took him a full 4 years before he looked like a draftable player. Some of it was his major that took up too much time but the rest is that he just needed time in the system. I don't care that he looks better than Rudolph now because he has been in the system a full year so I would expect that. I do think that Dobbs has potential to be a starter but that may be reaized by another team in a few years after he floats around the league.

Sorry, but at this point I would keep Dobbs and trade Landry Jones. Dobbs has progressed far more than Jones in the same time frame. I don't think either would survive a move to the practice squad and I'm not sure Jones qualifies for the practice squad anyway. Maybe Rudolph can get a hangnail or something minor that allows him to be put on IR.

This is Dobbs' audition for another team.

I hope not. Wexell was on Stan Savran's show a minute ago.

I agree with him on two points: Dobbs should have started the game last night, and the Steelers need to find a way to keep him. He's smart, improving and brings mobility that the other three QBs don't have.

Wexell noted that Jones will be gone after this season. So they should try to trade him. If Dobbs is cut, he'll get picked up. His upside is higher than Jones'.

i'd take a 7th in 2035 for Jones.

Let's face it, if Ben goes down, we're screwed anyway. Keep Dobbs and Rudolph, future looks bright. Trade Jones for something of value.

Rudolph has the same issues he did in college, can;t feel pressure, is slow to go through reads and does not have a great arm for deep outs , etc. Dobbs is a better athlete, has a better arm and gives you options if the pocket breaks down a la Ben. Rudolph is a statue with limited mobility. There is a reason he fell to the 3rd round despite the Steelers protestations that he had a 1st grade on him. Dobbs looks much much better than Landry Jones did in his 2nd and 3rd preseasons and is the better prospect than both IMO.

Bump up the price on our QBs, all of them will stand for the anthem!

Jones was horrendous his first two years... and he still is mostly a one read wonder... Rudolph has a better arm than him... I would not let him go... we aren’t winning a super bowl with jones... trade him,he isn’t a franchise qb and he is a ufa...

I dunno 4 QBs is a good problem to have. Each look I am thinking you keep them all. For how you some of yinz like Dobbs he still threw that pick returned for a TD. Jones had a better camp, and the real game experience. Not vanilla preseason games which make it a little harder to analyse a QB overall.

After seeing his plays from the other night, I'm inclined to agree. He looked pretty damn good. He's got nice footwork and a quick release...and he's literally a ******* rocket scientist. Belijerk will have him on the pats***** by sundown.
