No. Smith doesn't fit anywhere on this team, and a 1st and 2nd is not enough for Watt. Not only that, the Lions are good now, so those picks are late in the round.
True, 28 and 60

For it to make sense from value standpoint, they can keep Smith (he would most likely get cut anyway), you have to think of Watt as at the very least a top 5 pick, maybe top 10.

Top 5 is worth 1700 pts, top 10 is 1300. Detroit's first and second only add up to 900 points. Smith can be cut and free up 4m in cap space with 0 dead cap. So he isn't even worth anything towards the trade. And this is just from a business standpoint, what Watt is worth to the Steelers and the fanbase is way more.

Well, the way you put it, it sounds like a terrible deal.
After reading the article again, this deal isn't some rumor or initiated by the Steelers. Some outfit named Wright Way Sports Network proposed it.

Delete thread. Nothing to see here. lol

If Rooney won’t fire Tomlin, he certainly won’t trade an iconic Steeler all-time great.
Nothing to prevent mediocre.

That should be the first though process in any proposed trade.

Just look at Mav's fans right now, you can expect the same type of reaction from Steelers fans if Watt were to be traded.

This time of year there will be a LOT of these “click” type articles out there. I get pulled in as well, at times.

Pardon me if this was posted somewhere already.

Watt and Steelers 2025 fourth round pick for edge rusher Za'darius Smith and Lions 2025 first and second round picks.

What do yinz think?

Way too lopsided imo. Watt might not have too many seasons left and might not be in his prime but I don’t gave much if any value to Za’darius at this point and us giving up Watt and a 4th for a low end 1st and 2nd isn’t enough. Maybe 2025 1st and 2nd and a conditional pick(s) in 2026. But those would have to be second day value that could move to a 1st if conditions were made.

If we’re gonna trade Mikey it will require at least one first round pick for every glorious non losing season he has had…that is the cost for Mike…I heard this straight from Art

Anything less for the greatest coach ever would be uncivilized

As for Watt 2 firsts, a second and a quality starter would be where I’d start at (and the 1st in this draft would have to be before ours).

I would trade Watt and Cam both to the lions for a 2028 7th round pick so those two could have a chance for SB ring, or at least a playoff win.

I see a hint of Detroitism in you.

“Luke,….. I am your father,…..Detroit is not the dark-side”

I was going to wear my dick L. #44 Detroit jersey all playoff long(after we were out of course)

I love that Idea. In the late 80s, I plumbed This guys house. He was a LB on the late 50s Detroit Championship teams.

Super nice guy and had a hellA Steelers story when he played them his rookie season.

I guess we will wait patiently for said story

A first and a second and a player are basically enough for anyone. TJ Watt is 3/4 used up by shades clown. Same way he used up countless other players. Might as well get something for him and give him a legit opportunity to win at least a ****** playoff game. Cause of that man does not win a playoff game in his career it's basically the biggest waste of a player ever.
* QB cannot be included in above statement.

He said when he was a rookie, his first time playing the Steelers he was involved in a penalty that he disputed. He put his hand on the ref pleading his case and the REF told him (very sternly) don’t ever touch an official or we will throw you out of the game. ONLY warning, and only because you are a rookie. He said the ref’s new every rookie on the field.

Here’s the crux of the story. Bob went on about that first game and the lesson of playing the STEELERS. He said they weren’t really a very good team, but when you played them……. They were the toughest, hardest, never quit team he ever played. When the game was over, everyone was hurting from being beat to sheeet.

I’m not sure how long Bob’s career was, but I think he said he was on all four championship teams. The point being, he said his entire career, the STEELERS were the most physical team he ever faced.

Chuck Noll’s teams were very physical

Bill Cowher’s teams were very physical

Mike Tomlin’s teams became less physical as the “Cowher” players left……. And now are cream-puffs. Soft because the opposing teams can defend the OFFENSE easily, so free shots there. Opposing teams can dictate to our defense, giving them free shots.

This team is soft due to the current outdated easy scheme(s) they run.

Here is the problem. Tomlin believes in forcing a team to march. He is the exact opposite of Lebeau where you could get hit with a big play. But he took the fight to you. Tomlin believes play safe and let my edges hunt. It works very well against some teams and very bad against really good qb who can hit the first open man. Ie its good against Jackson's and it's really poor against Mahomes.

Example of the constant clickbait articles being churned out non stop between now and next fall. People have to make this stuff up to have something to write about.
