By Jared Villani SteelerNation.com Next up,*Mack Wilson*(LB) Alabama. The absence of Ryan Shazier has hurt the Steelers in a big way. Shazier’s leadership along with elite skill set are unmatched and the void he left behind will take a lot to fill. Pittsburgh should make finding a skilled linebacker a top priority since they failed […]

Thought his stock fell after he ran so sloooooooooooooooooooow at his pro day. He was a possible 1st round pick and most I have seen say he is a 2nd rounder now. Not running at the combine and then running a 4.7 and 4.65 isn't very good. I can't see us taking him at 1.20. If he falls to 2.20, then I would take him.

I like him in round three. Playing ILB at Alabama with an all star DL makes him tougher to evaluate.

I figured someone would say this. How can you evaluate any of Clemson's players? How about OSU's? Why are Bama players the only ones that can't be evaluated because of who is in front of them? Especially since Clemson has a better front?

I don't see us taking him in round 1

Vader, you know the answer to your question. We all do. Coach just throws chyt out there to see if it stinks...

As a resident homer, I would be ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED if we select Mack Wilson at 1.20. I agree, he's a 2nd rounder for sure, but I doubt he drops to us in the second...
I could see us trading up to get him in round 2 if Bush is gone at #20.

He read it elsewhere.

He might go as early as 26ish. If we could trade back to 26 or later, I'd do it and take him there.

Or trade up in the 2nd.

Mack Wilson is going in rounds 2 or 3. Mark it down.

Also, I have heard scouts say the same thing about Alamaba players. The talent around them makes them harder to evaluate. It is what it is, please continue to be ignorant to the facts.

Noted. We shall see. I think there is a good chance Wilson will be on the board when the Steelers select in round two. His 40 time was not ideal for a 3 down player.

man, that's going way out on a thin limb, isnt it? Now it seems you're running around in NFL scout social circles. Or are you just overhearing convos while getting drink refills at the bar?

Aren't you the guy that has been spouting we could of drafted Darius Leonard last year? He ran a 4.7 at the combine then lead the league in tackles and was defensive rookie of the year. I guess Leonard is not an ideal 3 down player either.

Way to go out on a limb with a span of 64+ picks. I think I have seem, maybe as many as 3 mocks with him going in the late first. Virtually, everyone knows he is 2nd round pick.

However, if I'd take a guy at 34, I'd take him at 26 if I can't trade back. 1.20? No, anything after 26

but, see, if you take a guy at 1.26 and some guy at the same position with nearly identical measurables is not taken until 2.27, in Cooch's mind, you've over-reached. Regardless of how the other players around that pick were selected, or team needs. Or if teams move up or down. If any guy is not selected within the next 64-96 picks from the one you selected, you've over-stepped your bounds. Consequently, if you select a guy based on skill and talent and not on exact measurables from the combine, you're just pissing in the wind.

Cooch has shown he's adept at both ******** on a pick and blowing a guy at the same time. Usually within the same season. Example: Burns, Artie.
