At this point, there seems to be only two players who are a lock for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. The last spot comes down to Josh Dobbs and Landry Jones. And it’s gonna be a battle. Joshua Dobbs Dobbs is an athletic and talented QB without much experience but high potential. He […]

Not sure it is reasonable to expect Mason to jump over Landry in training camp. Landry does have starting experience in his favor. I could see his jump in his second year....

somebody needs to rise up. So often we fans think oh this guy is better or that guy is small school and cant make it.
Well in the past it has happened. But damn it happens so little anymore. Id like to see Rudolph rise up and take that job. I think Landry Jones is pedestrian at best.

Deebo did it. Villenueva did it . Crazy how that happened. Foster did I guess. Idk Maybe im crazy.

I criticize bud Dupree, but nobody behind him is taking his spot. Coach hates sean davis, but nobody took his job yet.

Hope many here are surprised by Mason Rudolf by the end of pre-season. I doubt Landry will be gone due to his journeyman like presence. BUT RUDOLF IS FULLY CAPABLE OF BEING #2 ON THE DEPTH CHART. Maybe I'm a little wishfull thinking but it's a very real possibility.

I actually think Landry is a lock for the roster too. I think it's clear Dobbs will be the odd-man out. Experienced backups are more valuable than we think, even though as a fanbase we're not very enamored with Landry.

I also think with a strong preseason, he may even have some trade value.

Bye Josh.

$1.9 million cap savings. Cut him now. Bye Laundry

Laundry "knows the system". Even with a new OC and supposedly an all-new system. They're not going to keep 36 year old Ben, a second-year third stringer, and a rookie.

So you cut Dobbs, keep Laundry and then next year when Laundry is a walk UFA we need to draft another QB? That's not smart business.

I'm with you Hines, the Steelers have a tough decision if Dobbs kills it this preseason. He's doing well in OTAs, and making tough throws. If it's close, and Rudolph shows he's backup capable, Landry may be shown the door.

Well if that's true that Dobbs is killing it (I didn't know that) I actually think the Steelers will/should try to trade Landry, since he does have a lot of experience and someone will need a capable veteran backup. I don't disagree that the ideal situation would be Dobbs sliding in to the 3rd spot since Landry might be gone next year anyway. I just still had last year preseason Dobbs in my head, and he wasn't very impressive
