Have a go, here are my picks:

The cuts have happened and there are a lot of talented, young players swimming in the talent pool. It’s time for the Steelers to go fishing for potential roll players this year and beyond. NFL teams get to select 10 players to their practice squads after they have cleared waivers. Here are the 10 from our team, who should be placed on the practice squad. Keep in mind, the Steelers will pick up talent from other players in the pool, I just want to focus on the 10 players that showed something in Steelers training camp, or have potential to improve and help this team.

I also did a breakdown of our final roster cuts this year.

I know a lot of years, there is lamenting and gnashing of teeth about players that were cut or got away during the cut down process. This year, we did cut some talent, but I don’t feel badly about any of them leaving the team.. I think this roster was crafted to maintain optimal talent paired with young potential.

EXELENT write ups Cope and thank you for all your hard work that the process takes. I don't have any factual or inside information but for some reason I think AYERS will come back to the practice squad. I know he spouted of some about respect on Twitter or some venue as such. I hope he re-thinks those remarks and humbles up. I know I'm riding his long shot but that is what attracts me to his play, being a long shot. His abilities can be there and with time and a little more muscle mass he may be an NFL receiver. He just needs a little more work / time and that is why the practice squad would be so good for his developement to come.

Thanks again Cope

Nothing will humble him more than if he doesn't receive a contract offer from any other team. That will let him know how not just the Steelers, but the rest of the 31 NFL teams feel about him. In that case, he'd be very well served to join our PS, as he knows the coaches and players here and could very well end up on the 53 at some point during the season.

I just read from PennLive that Ayers won't sign with the Steelers PS if offered. Kind of a dick move on his part. Can't make the club from the tub and he'd be one injury away from being back on the team. I get trying to get signed to another teams 53 first but if that doesn't happen I feel making 6 figures on the practice squad isn't a bad gig.

He might be looking up at the depth chart and thinking he has a better chance somewhere else. He was cut. He should go wherever he has the best chance to persue his career. I believe he made a statement before camp to the effect of the guys cut could make another teams 53.

Is Golson PS eligible?

If he is, it would make sense for him to be on our PS. He knows our schemes, and if he finally gets healthy, he might show why he was drafted so high, and maybe end up on the 53 if someone gets injured. No risk at all for us there, and probably smarter for him than to go to a team where he doesn't know the scheme.

The Steelers announced their practice squad on Sunday, and they are all familiar faces who were waived when the team reduced their roster to 53 players.

The team signed nine players, while agreeing to terms with one other. Teams are permitted to sign a maximum of 10 players to the practice squad.

On offense the Steelers signed center Kyle Friend, tight end Jake McGee, running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and wide receiver Marcus Tucker. They also agreed to terms with wide receiver Justin Thomas.

Defensively the team signed linebacker Matt Galambos, safety Jacob Hagen, defensive end Lavon Hooks, linebacker Farrington Huguenin and cornerback Dashaun Phillips.

A closer look at the practice squad:

Kyle Friend: Was signed by the Steelers during the offseason to a reserve/futures contract. Entered the NFL with the New York Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Temple and spent time on their practice squad last season.

Matt Galambos: Galambos was signed by the Steelers in May after a tryout during rookie minicamp. The former University of Pittsburgh linebacker played in all four preseason games, finishing with nine tackles, and an interception.

Jacob Hagen: Hagen finished the preseason with 10 tackles, as well as an interception against the Carolina Panthers. Hagen also had a forced fumble and two pass defenses. Hagen was also on the Steelers practice squad last year.

Lavon Hooks: Hooks finished the preseason with seven tackles. The Steelers signed Hooks to a reserve/future contract this offseason, his second go-through with the team. He was originally signed by the team to a reserve/future contract in 2016, but was waived before the 2016 season.

Farrington Huguenin: Finished the preseason with 11 tackles, playing in all four games. He originally joined the Steelers this offseason, signing a reserve/future contract.

Jake McGee: McGee was signed by the Steelers during training camp this year. During the preseason he had three receptions for 13 yards. McGee, who played collegiately at Florida, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2016.

Dashaun Phillips: The Steelers acquired Phillips via a trade with the Washington Redskins on Aug. 23. He played against the Carolina Panthers in the preseason finale, finishing with two tackles and a fumble recovery. Phillips played in five games for the Redskins in 2016, starting two, in the nickel role. He had seven tackles and a fumble recovery.

Fitzgerald Toussaint: Toussaint was originally signed to the Steelers practice squad in Sept., 2015. He was promoted to the active roster in Nov., 2015. Last season Toussaint played in 16 games, with 14 carries for 58 yards.

Justin Thomas: Thomas was signed by the Steelers on Aug. 23. Thomas played quarterback at Georgia Tech, played defensive back and was a kick returner in the Senior Bowl, and at his Pro Day worked at multiple positions, including wide receiver, quarterback, defensive back and kick returner.

Marcus Tucker: Tucker, who was on the Steelers practice squad last season, had eight receptions for 97 yards in the preseason this year, with a long of 34 yards against Carolina in the preseason finale.
