QBs: Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, Landry Jones I’m sticking with these three. Rudolph was a third-round pick, so the team can’t just stash him on the practice squad . Dobbs, on the other hand, may be able to spend some time on the practice squad without being picked off by another team. But it is […]

I secretly hope Dobbs shows something...enough to dangle him for trade bait along with a draft pick or one of the DB's we will have to cut. With a little luck, maybe they can find a trade partner for a useful ILB.

QB:
Ben
Jones
Rudolph

RB:
Bell
Connor
Ridley
Fitz - I don't think Toussaint is ps eligible anymore. Samuels is. Fitz is a good pass blocker and ST guy. Just think he hangs around for some reason.

FB:
Nix

OL:
Villanueva
Foster
Pouncey
DeCastro
Gilbert
Feiler
Finney
Okorafor

TE:
McDonald
James
Grimble

WR:
AB
JuJu
Washington
DHB
Hunter
*Patterson*

DL:
Cam
Tuitt
Hargrave
Alualu
McCullers
Walton

OLB:
Dupree
Watt
Chickillo
Adams
*Adeniyi*

ILB:
Williams
Bostic
Matakevich
Fort
Thomas

CB:
Hayden
Burns
Hilton
Sutton
Allen
Sensabaugh

S:
Burnett
Davis
Edmunds
Behre - sorta same as Fitz vs Samuels. Allen can go to the p.s.

ST:
Bos
Berry
Canaday

*Adeniyi or Patterson? Who goes to the P.S.?

If Jaylen Samuels hits the PS he'll get snatched up so quick. That would be a mistake IMO.

Landry Jones best value is on the trade block. I keep Dobbs.
Keep Toussaint over Ridley for his ST's
Adeniyi I think clears to the PS

Who would snatch him up??? What has he shown that would make teams that didn't draft him early suddenly clear roster space to get him?

/QUOTE]

Lots of folks agree with that sentiment but neither JD or MR have shown they are ready. I would be shocked if the Steelers moved Jones.

I think they keep all 4, and next year let Jones contract expire. Then we have two young buckaroos.

S:
Burnett
Davis
Edmunds

Dangerfield , golden Behre, Allen.

if they do only keep 4. Im not sure who is taking that last spot. Allen the 5th rd was a favorite, but hasn't impressed. . I disagree that Behre will be the last safety. My money is on Dangerfield, Allen to the PS.

My thoughts keep changing... I love predicting the roster, even if I’m way wrong. It’ll probably change after PS game 3 also.

QB 4 (4)
Ben Roethlisberger
Landry Jones
Joshua Dobbs
Mason Rudolph

QB is tough... everybody has a different opinion. The team has kept 4 in the past and hasn’t ruled it out now. I don’t see Dobbs making it to the PS and we already know that’s not an option for Mason.

RB - 5 (9)
Le’Veon Bell
James Conner
Stevan Ridley
Jaylen Samuels
Roosevelt Nix (FB)

Jaylen will be on the roster. He’s too versatile to let walk, another player who won’t make it to the practice squad if attempted.

WR - 5 (14)
Antonio Brown
JuJu Smith Schuster
James Washington
Justin Hunter
Damoun Patterson

This could very well be one of the best catching squads we have seen in a while. This group is going to shock a lot of people this season. I let DHB walk because his special team play will be taken over by Hunter, JSAM, and others to be named later.

TE - 3 (17)
Vance McDonald
Jesse James
Xavier Grimble

G - 3 (20)
Ramon Foster
David DeCastro
Matt Feiler (G/T)

C - 2 (22)
Maurkice Pouncey
B.J. Finney (C/G)

OT - 3 (25)
Marcus Gilbert
Alejandro Villanueva
Chukwuma Okorafor (G/T)

DE - 3 (28)
Stephon Tuitt
Tyson AluAlu
L.T. Walton

DT - 3 (31)
Cameron Heyward
JaVon Hargrave
Dan McCullers

ILB - 5 (36)
Vince Williams
Jon Bostic
L.J. Fort
Tyler Matakevich
Matthew Thomas

OLB - 5 (41)
T.J. Watt
Bud Dupree
Keion Adams
Olasunkanmi Adeniyi
Anthony Chickillo

CB - 5 (46)
Joe Haden
Artie Burns
Mike Hilton
Cameron Sutton
Brian Allen

S - 4 (50)
Morgan Burnett
Sean Davis
Terrell Edmunds
Nat Berhe

K - 1 (51)
Chris Boswell

P - 1 (52)
Jordan Berry

LS - 1(53)
Cameron Kanday

Landry Jones might actually have some trade value, maybe a 5th. We can roll the dice with the two kids as backup QB, is not like we are going anywhere without Ben with this Defense

What has he shown that would make teams that didn't draft him early suddenly clear roster space to get him?

Well it's been only 2 PS games so it's a pretty small sample size, but as Cope said, you don't get rid of such a versatile piece of the offense you already think pretty highly of (him being used w/ 1s already). And I'd think a team like the Patriots would love his versatility.

What's your take on what happens to Dobbs?????

It's that black & white, huh? In any case, he isn't going anywhere -- as Cope already clearly helped articulate as to why.

My take on Dobbs (I understand you didn't ask me DIC), they put him on the PS and cross their fingers he clears. I think they're a little skeptical on Rudolph at the moment but they want to see a lot more (and will) before they do anything there. Jones is a lock (whether we like it or not), unless they could actually get some compensation from a team desperate for a QB.

I actually liked Dobbs' presence in the pocket and some of his throws against Green Bay, and really want to see more from him -- sucks there's only so much to go around for these fringe guys.

He is the wild card in all this, one which might not have a right answer. You try to PS him someone might snatch him up. You trade him you probably don't get his true value in return. Starting off of a more solid second year. If you keep him you lose out on one special teams player or a player of needed depth. If you trade Landry you lose out on a backup with experience that has played well overall. That at least has been more consistent of all the backups to this point. In a perfect world you trade Dobbs for a ilber with some youth and potential. But we don't live in a perfect world where our wants are always fufilled. Obviously. You have to think they see Mason as the higher upside. But will he be ready for action this year? I am not so sure. My guess is they trade him before final cuts and get a late round pick for him. Perhaps Cleveland will give up something if Taylor is out short term. Or some other needy QB team.

Dobbs or Rudolph will come down with a mystery injury landing on IR is my guess.

I think it comes down to draft pick or trade value compensation. I'd be willing to take an athletic ILB for Jones, but the draft values for me would be as follows:

Jones Round 2 or higher
Dobbs Round 4 or higher.

If I don't get those minimums, I don't make the trades.

A second for Jones? If that is their want I have some bad news for them.

I was thinking a between a 3rd and 5th for Jones and a 4 and 6th for Dobbs.

After watching Washington, and watching Rudolph last game, I'm starting to wonder if Washington was the reason Rudolph got drafted as high as he did

For QBs you have to elevate their value. You also don't want to let a QB leave for anything less than the round they are drafted, so nothing less than a 4. Jones actually has more value than a lot of Steeler fans realize. He might have 2nd rd value for the right team.
