Not a bad option if you're looking for a stopgap starter until a rookie is ready. Heck, I'd maybe start him at RT.

Definitely a consideration. Bring him in and get an evaluation of ability, can't hurt. If he is cap friendly would make great stop gap / depth at a position of need.
