Post-Combine Mock. Use this link. You can't pick any player that is off the board before we select.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...matt-millers-7-round-predictions-post-combine

Round one ) Inside Linebacker Rashaan Evans. - 3 down MLB, with good speed, range and tackling ability. Nice on the blitz as well

Round two ) Safety Jessie Bates. - Best safety on the board, wanted others already taken.

Round three ) Running Back Rashaad Penny - Insurance for Bell, and much more likely to hit the big play

Round 5A ) Corner Back Taron Johnson. - Can always use depth at DB.

Round 5B ) Punter Michael Dickson. - A rare punting prospect, will upgrade us

Round 7A ) Defensive Tackle /Nose Tackle Deadrin Senat - Big Dan hardly dresses and Hargrave underwhelms

Round 7B ) Offensive Tackle Rick Leonard - Depth is needed at OT, as Hubbard is likely gone.

No quarrel with you on the 1st and 2nd.

NFL.com has White and Bates rated almost the same, but Bates looks a bit better on paper. I dont know why BR picked White over Bates.

That RB has some pretty gaudy college stats and put up a 3rd best in RB 40 time. What kind of competition did he face in college? Why not Chubb? college stats are less gaudy, but played, presumably, better competition, 40 was .06 seconds less. Looks like Penny did some return duties, too. Did Chubb? No 4th round pick i may take a shot at a D player here, too.

Past round 3, my only comment is the punter, Doesnt matter how rare he is, to me. Round 7? OK. With this team's ability to pick some qualtiy late round WR I'd rather do that or double up on S/LB or almost any D position.

1. (28) Rashaan Evans, LB, Bama
2. (60) Da'Shawn Hand, DL, Bama
3. (92) Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, LB, Oklahoma
5. (148) Jordan Whitehead, S, Pitt
5. (165) Riley Ferguson, QB, Memphis
7. (220) Jake Wieneke, WR, South Dakota St
7. (246) Jeremy Reaves, S/CB, South Alabama

Rashaad Penny looked pretty solid in the senior bowl week of practices. In the game, he scored on a 73 yard passing play! He also ran it 9 times for 66 yards. Impressive.

While his competition was on the weak side in college, he showed he belonged at the senior bowl. I place a high value on the practices and game.

With our OL blocking and skill players spreading out the defense, a player like Penny can shine.

Regarding the punter, I think with our leaky defense, the value of a good punter has gone up. Why not get a guy who has pro bowl potential?

PS: We have no 4th round pick, we traded our 4th for San Fran's 5th to Obtain McDonald. This is why we have no 4th but two 4ths in the 2018 draft.

I could live with that draft. With limited picks I wouldn’t go punter this year tho. But first three picks are probably all needs (unless Bell signs long term). I’d probably look edge at 5b as we don’t have much after Watt. Chick/Dupree both have contracts that need figuring out. I think they either long term Chick or option Bud but not both.

1 Ronnie Harrison S Alabama - I think a lot projected will be off the board, including Evans. I see this as a realistic possibility.
2 Mark Andrews TE Oklahoma - Don't see him falling to the bottom of two, I see this as a solid value pick.
3 Josey Jewell LB Iowa - He doesn't even have to change team colors. I think they bring in a free agent ILber. But this adds to it for competiion/depth.
5 Deontay Burnett WR USC- Another WR like Juju in the regards that he knows how to get open.
5B Bo Scarbrough RB Alabama - Steelers lost a RB due to free agency, have one who is coming off injury, and one lug head who will probably hold out of preseason. There is a need.
7 Garret Dooley LB Wisconsin - Watt can give him a hand -depth
7 Chase Litton QB Marshall- PS if he doesn't show enough,

1. Rashaan Evans ILB (the sheriff of the middle)
2. Jesse Bates FS (slight, but a great set of hands and plays CF)
3. Okoronkwo OLB (situational rusher until Bud moves on)
5a. Micah Kiser ILB (could be successor to VW and a ST guy right out the gate)
5. Trequan Smith WR (great value for a vertical threat we will lack in 19')
7a. Frazier DT (alabama guy and dunbar knows him)
7b.RayRay McCleod KR/PR (could be dynamic KR/PR and backup in the slot)

A punter in the 5th? Why so low? You should trade up in the 4th and get one!

;)

Colbert has me beat. He traded a 4th, and a 6th round pick to move up and selected Punter Daniel Sepulveda, and topped that by drafting a long snapper in round 6, that was cut.

I think Michael Dickson is a unique punting prospect. He won MVP of a Bowl game. Which punter ever did that?

10 of those punts landed inside Mizzou’s 15-yard line.
7 landed inside the 10-yard line.
4 landed inside the 5-yard line.
ZERO touchbacks.

In the past two seasons, he averaged 47.4 yards per punt. He can kick for distance, hang time, and his touch to drop them inside the 20 is impressive.

A decent athelte, he can run it as an option. We are talking about a guy with pro bowl ability here. Worth a 5th round pick, and considering how below average Berry is, it will be a noticeable upgrade.

That is my story, and I'm sticking to it.

i'm now firmly entrenched on Berry 4 Life contract. Who else?

I don't care.

I will discuss our draft picks after we've used him to pick players.

This YOUR story huh?

It’s more like Louis Bein’s story..

https://www.sbnation.com/2017/12/28/16824930/texas-punter-michael-dickson-texas-bowl-latfp

... That’s just a sampling. Dickson punted 11 times during the game for 452 yards — a solid average of 41.1 yards per punt. More important than the average, however, was Dickson’s placement.

“10 of those punts landed inside Mizzou’s 15-yard line.
7 landed inside the 10-yard line.
4 landed inside the 5-yard line.
ZERO touchbacks.”

And for those efforts, Dickson was named the Capital Player of the Game. Can you name the last time a punter was named the Player of the Game of a bowl game? I’ll tell you: 2008.

I gotta tell ya, that was a hell of a performance by Gano — five punts for 241 yards, all but one pinning Wisconsin inside the 10-yard line. But for pure volume and importance — Florida State would win by 29, Texas by 17 — I prefer Dickson’s for my money. Dickson punted for as many yards as a great offense and made life hell for a team that outgained the Longhorns by 108 yards and still lost.

Did you know that Dickson was born in Australia? Of course you did, because Australia makes the best punters. The only comparable performance was perhaps from another former Aussie Rules player, former LSU Tiger Brad Wing:

Dickson is a genuine article, however. Thank you, you beautiful punt man, for turning in what might be the best performance by a member of the Shoe Crew all year.

No validity to YOUR story......you had to use someone else’s. Genius.

Yeah, he had you beat. 2 time Ray Guy award winner... you know best college punter in the nation. Also two time all -American as well. Plus KC traded up 6 or 7 picks in the same 4th round. They gave up their 6th because they had 2 5th rounders.

As usually Ike doesn't have a clue, my story as to why I think he's worth a 5th round pick. DUH.

Now Ike, for a laugh can we see your mock?

I was talking about Colbert here. Dickson won the 2017 Ray Guy award and if you look at the data, did better in college in his last two seasons.

You know I think you don't know what "doesn't have a clue" means in the english vocabulary. YOUR story wasn't yours. Your opinion is. You quoted word for word Dickson's stats for one bowl game as stated by another writer like it was your own. You didn;t even at least re-format the comments, You going to hang on this guy and say we should have drafted him...and he probably goes undrafted.

Nice deflection of the gist of my post by asking me about my mock draft? Here's the thing Coach.....they aren't real. So I don't waste my time. But, if you want mine I will give it to you.

1. Lynn Swann
2. Jack Lambert
4A John Stallworth
4B Jimmy Allen
5. Mike Webster

I stopped after thinking I had at least 4 HOFs....

Sorry Coach, you came across as thinking you are better than Colbert in what he does. Because, you usually think you know more than people who actually do the work. Not taking into consideration he drafted Sepulveda several picks from the 5th round. The same round you are picking a punter with less college accolades.

You forgot to add Donnie Shell as a rookie free agent.

Dunning,

Sepulveda was a 4th round pick. And he cost more than one pick. I think Colbert has done a good job lately, minus the comical long snapper pick, which he later cut.
