Cringed when I read the title, but just Troy being his humble self. No rejection of the team or not caring about a legacy. Just thinks Football is really a team game. Individual accolades seem a little silly. Better change his mind a bit. Cause he is going in. Whether he wants it or not.

Troy was always a guy who could take or leave football. Being a football player never defined him or seemed all that important to him personally. It was just a job he had to do. But he was just so damned naturally talented it didn't matter, he was still the best at his position and one of the best players of his generation. It doesn't surprise me that he wouldn't care much either way about being in the HOF.

I would partially agree. I think if he could take or leave he wouldn't have cared so much about how it ended. I'd say more like being a player never defined him. He enjoyed life out of football. He was very enjoyable to watch. Love to meet him. Seems like a great guy.

I’d agree with this assessment. Football was clearly important to him, or he would not have invested so much of himself into it - especially, as principled as he is. He is just more grounded than the average athlete. Whereas some players openly advocate for their enshrinement, Troy usable time look at the bigger picture. He’s not saying he’s not worthy, but rather that he didn’t accomplish what he did in a vacuum. That’s a refreshing perspective.
