Been thinking what needs to happen to beat the Pats:

- LB's gel from the get-go. Shazier plays fast and sharp. Timmons the alpha dog is on point. Deebo/Jarvis & Moats/WonderBud rotate through and get the job done. If Butler wants to split them 25/25/25/25 so be it. Doesn't matter, stop the run and pressure the Deflator. These guys need to step up, let the chips fall where they may.

- DeAngelo shows nibble feet, a strong burst & good hands. He handles blitz pick-up, has a great all-around game. A key to victory.

- Dri Archer puts "pressure on the D" be it running, catching the ball, returning kicks, going in motion, what not. We've been busy bashing Archer, funny to see Belichik mention him at the Pats' presser. Unique speed, can take it to the house, that they need to gameplan for him. Must have been watching Kent State tape. ;) Regardless, Archer's got to make an impact, for the love of God....

- Mitchell & Allen hold up well enough that we're not bitching about them all day Friday. Cover the deep ball, no long plays!, do your job, tackle well - we'll be happy.

- A miracle happens and the Steelers force turnovers - interceptions, strip sacks, fumble recoveries...like in the olden days. That's been Keith Butler's plan all summer, let's see if he attacks more than we've seen thus far.

- If we're not talking about Cody Wallace on Fri, he's surpassed all expectations. Season-opener replacing Maurkice Pouncey? Don't try to be hero. Keep Ben clean and open up a few holes. The beer will be on us after the game.

- Cortez, Gay, Blake & Boykin hold their own against Brady & Co. Steelers CB's shock the world and show they're for real. * yes, by far the biggest leap of faith on this list.

- I never feel like we can't win a game with Ben on the field. Ben plays better than Brady, we win.

- AB in the house, on national television? Get outta here...AB will do his thing, flash that smile. Wheaton & DHB - those boys show up, we'll be alright.

What else needs to happen to beat the Pats?

LET'S GO STEELERS!

Will Allen has a solid day.
Jarvis Jones listed 25% gets lowered to say 10% of the time.
The team stays relatively healthy. (moving forward as well)
Dri Archer does a few 4.2 40 yards sprints on the sideline before the game, tires out and rides the bench throughout the game. But no worries he does bench good so good. He gives marvelous bench.

The efense can't do jack **** against Br*dy, never have. Our best hope is for the offense to take their sweet old time driving down the field, chewing clock, and putting up 7's instead of 3's. Marcia can't score if she doesn't have the ball.

Ben needs to go into the game with the mindset of scoring on every possession. This defense isn't stopping anyone let alone Brady*****. The pats**** will use the "us against the world" mentality and come out hot. The Steelers need to score early and often. Then they have to pray that the balls are properly inflated and maybe get a fumble or a tipped pass. I could see this game as a 55-45 score game. Losing Bryant really hurt because he can stretch the field and take some heat off of AB. Stupid decision by him.

Tomlin needs to out-scheme Belichick. Um...er....nevermind!

I'm actually not to concerened about the db's this game. Gay, Allen, and Boykin are smart players. Blake is undersized but gritty. It's the lack of pass rush that concerns me. If they can get Marsha Marsha Marsha off his game sans pass rush. All the better

If the offense doesn't put up 21 in the first half, I don't think we have a chance. They will then still need at least 2 more TD's in the 2nd half to have a chance. 35 points will be the minimum we need to score to have a chance no matter what the D does. If the D holds the Cheaters to less than 30, it will have been a good night for them.

I don't want to overemphasize the coach. But, really look at the matchup. If you give them a slight edge at QB (and statistically there should be no edge), and a firm edge at TE (though I think Heath is tremendous) where do all their match up edges come from? WR? RB? They lost their two starting Corners and they aren't all pro at Safety either. Line (the Steelers lost a pro bowl centre, but they still should be good) Linebacker? Maybe cause the Steelers aren't great, but it isn't like they haven't invested. So it comes to this I feel they have a marginal advantage at QB and a larger one at TE. I feel the Steelers pretty much match up even or better at every other position. Yet I get the feeling the Steelers will have their ***** handed to them. Now why is that?

It's not a matter of how our players match up with their players at the same positions. It's a matter of how Br*dy and his receivers match up against our defense.

If all the positional matchups are in your favour, why wouldn't you expect to win (Though I don't). I could turn that around and say, how does their defense match up against the Steelers receivers and QB. Who are their DB's? Patrick Chung? Really. But why will their coaches squeeze enough out of their players and schemes to make for probably covering the 7.5 spread. Why?

ah er Mike Tomlin here with yer game breakdown.

A critical game early, against a team with a above the line pedigree obviously.

No stone can go un-turned obviously as we defend every blade of grass. The standard is the standard.

Will Allen appears to be starting but looking at the depth chart obviously we will go with the listed starter Shamarko. See we don't live in our fears we live in our hopes. (thinking to himself I am hoping one of those safeties can play worth a damn obviously)

We will approach this game as it isn't what we are capable of, but what we are willing to do.

I am not going to paint with a broad brush, obviously this game will be a difficult win.

But excuses are tools for the incompetent.

In this game everyone with a helmet on is in the mix.

The good teams, the dominant teams, aren't necessarily dominant in stadiums, but they are dominant largely in moments, when they do what's required to get out of stadiums with victories.

I acknowledge Brady can throw better, running backs and receivers can grip better with deflated footballs, but with their pedigree it is highly doubtful than it influenced the outcome of games. We won't live in the past, we will live in the moment.

See iron sharpens iron, be where you're at.

I still ask anyone to come up with reasoning why their roster is so much better than the Steelers. So if it isn't the talent, then what is the issue.

Cheating????

Steelers front 7 is what worries me. If Jarvis and Moats are starting. No pressure. Need an old school Deebo moment and hopefully he knocks the snickers out of Marsha

Them's some BIG shoes to fill. We would know soon enough. TMC was the most knowledgeable poster this board has ever had, IMO. Hope he is doin' ok!

People forget that the Pats secondary blows chunks. The secondary is a wash.

DL & LB - The Pats have the advantage with both and it ain't close.

RB - Blount is suspended. Their RB is ??? Advantage DeAngelo.

WR - the Patriots top three are all hurt and Amendola is a glass doll. We have Antonio.

TE - Gronk. adv Pats

OL - Stork is injured If he doesn't play then even without Pouncey I think Steelers have the advantage.

ST - The Pats are usually well drilled so potentially an edge there.

Either way this shouldn't be as far away as you might think.

Vegas says:
Line: New England (-7)
Moneyline: Pittsburgh (+250), New England (-300)
Over/Under: 52

Take the over.
