Not sure how much defensive help he'll provide, but the PP should be improved. And unloading Granlund and Petry alone is enough to make this trade a winner.

None, but that's not why they traded for him. By far got the best player in the deal and unloaded disaster moves from Hextall. If nothing else, this team just got a lot more exciting to watch.

Think they're really going to push for 1 more cup with the core. I'd say if they had a superstar goalie those odds would be so much better.
They still need a goon and a legit goalie.
This trade is exactly what the Pens needed to inject some much needed life back into the organization.
Karlsson is a beast and someone that needs accounted for every time he steps on the ice..
Huge difference maker for the squad....not to mention ridding themselves of some big time dead weight and money, by moving 3 guys that will be the "face" of Hextall's legacy here..

I'm excited that Erik is on the team and the deal gives the Pens a little Cap room at $700K. The Pens are still the oldest roster in the league. They need to get rid of Jeff Carter and find some speed.

Great addition.....does this mean that Letang might get a new home soon?
If it does....his new home will be his home.
I think he would be a smart man to hang them up after this season, with his health issues and all..
with Karlsson now in the fold, the window is two years and then we can start crying in our beer. More than likely, Sid retires and Geno and LeTang are right behind him. Got to try hard to win one more with this line-up. I don't know if that is obtainable with the talent and youth is in our division, let alone the rest of the league. Gonna be exciting.
